Jade starts World War III

Post by Dadaist » 17 Jan 2007, 16:18

I nicked this thread title from somewhere else. Says it all. There are demos in India, Gordon and Tony have had to speak out.

You would think those 3 (Jo Club, Jade Baddy and Ex-Miss GB) and Channel 4 have scored an own goal, but then again they say that no publicity is bad publicity.

I'd love it if that Big Brother Fax Machine was actually wired up to the outside world for real - it would be spewing out questions like a bog roll dispenser.

I've just watched Celebrity Big Brother for the first time this series, prompted by all the brew haha in the press this morning. I have to say my chin was on the floor most of the time. I don't think I've ever seen such a vitriolic attack on one person. I used to almost admire Jade Goody for what she had made of herself. Now I'm ashamed to think that I have played even the smallest part in her success.

Grinding PR wheels are playing catch-up with yesterdays celebrity event snowball.

Danielle's "Friends, Family and Representatives" have gone through her utterances and attempted to spin them, with varying shades of hilarity, best one being :
"F*** off home" is a term frequently used sometimes as an insult and sometimes in a jovial fashion between young people today.

ROFLMAO

I've not seen Channel 4's press conference yet but I hear they shoehorned in an ad for the eviction vote. Shameless!

Jack Straw has called for immediate action.

Ofcom now have 30,000 complaints.

Is this a farce yet?

Following Channel 4's recent statement, with regards to the alleged racism and bullying in the Big Brother House, Bennetts, the UK's number one motorcycle insurance intermediary has reviewed its arrangements for Danielle Lloyd to front its Bennetts Babes campaign. These arrangements were entered into prior to Miss Lloyd's entry into the Big Brother House.

Bennetts is strongly opposed to any form of racism and bullying and, in the light of the accusations which have been made against Miss Lloyd, has taken the decision to terminate its arrangements with her with immediate effect.
Dagnammit. I hope Bennetts are able to fill their intermediary insurance babe vacuum fast or I might have to take my consumer requirements elsewhere.

Vote with your remote control. Stop watching this freak show and watch them lose their advertising revenue.

Seems like there will be a few people coming out that house to find their sponsors/promotional deals have gone bye bye.

I've never watched Big Brother and don't intend to start now but it's interesting to watch the hysteria building up. I mean effigies burnt? Who's effegy was it does anybody know?

My eldest once said "If I ever feel the need to watch anybody arguing over whose turn it is to perform a task and how we they do it I'll go hame and watch my siblings"
I agree

Actually she calls them squabblings or other less complimentary things

Is this the end of the media spotlight for Jade?

Find out in tomorrow's Sun, Mirror, News Of The World, Daily Mail, Express and Record.

No, it's merely the beginning of her redemption, which will see her adopting a poor deprived indian infant in a blaze of publicity, just in time for 'The Goody Family Christmas', a fly on the wall extravaganza broadcast at peaktime on Christmas Day, featuring the whole family and co-starring their chums Samuel L and Kate M.

Watch the hideous conclusion in wonder, as they realise they've been basting the baby and the squawking swaddled creature in the corner is the turkey.

Was in the paper shop earlier and noticed Jades face plastered over all the front pages. Even the wee wifey in front of me was going on about BB though she kept referring to "Jane with the foul mouth"

Hear things getting worse for Jade. Even Max Clifford says he wouldn't want to represent her if evicted tonight!!!

See her perfume is called Shh. If only she'd followed that advise.

Still wont watch it on principal

It's always interesting to hear different opinions on subjects, and earlier I sounded out Kevin Rowland, erstwhile singer of the great Dexys Midnight Runners, for his views on the CBB debacle. This is what he told me:
Kevin Rowland wrote:
Im talking about Big Brother of course. For you those that don't live in Britain, the press here are full of it. An Indian actress, Shilpa, has clashed with 3 girls and a bloke in the house and its being billed as racism in the papers. I don't think its anything of the sort. What I think it's about, is class differences. I suspect that those 4 {Jade Danielle, Jo and Jack} have banded together because they feel insecure around the other 4 housemates, who are much more sophisticated, educated, travelled, successful and confident. I don't like the way Jade and crew carry on, sometimes im cringing as im watching, thinking 'shut up!' But a part of me feels for them too, because they are the kind of people I grew up with and the kind of people I come into contact with every day. They're not BAD.

I don't really think its bullying either {Another accusation, and im sure im going to encounter plenty of wrath for saying this stuff, but I only have my point of view, and I know Endemol, the makers have apparently been inundated with complaints, but I can only go by what I see, not what other people say}, I think Shilpa is a bit of a drama queen. Am I racist for saying that? No, I don't think so. Those 4 have done the same, they've said they don't like her. Is that racist? No. She just happens to be Indian. They said they didn't want to eat the chicken she cooked, because it was under cooked, not because she is Indian. They feel she looks down on them, maybe she does. If they talk about her culture in any negative way, its because they don't like they way she operates within her culture, not that they don't like her culture. Its not about her race, its about her. It's a clash, a clash of cultures, between an Indian actress {and her enlisted cohorts; Dirk, Jermaine and maybe Cleo too. Ultimately Cleo sides with Shilpa} and 3 English working class girls and a boy.

Watch Endemol break that four up. Its inevitable. They always do, they always side with the middle class. Last year was the same when Makobi {I think that's her name, an African woman} had a culture clash with 3 or 4 working class people on the show. The press levelled some criticism and Endemol came up with some bogus rule break, so that two of the working class group couldn't nominate that week, ensuring that their crew would be well and truly broken up. Watch them tonight or tomorrow, I bet they'll do the same thing with this 4. They're so afraid of being seen as racist, which is bizarre considering how the whole premise of the show is exploitation. Also, they are embarrassed by the working class of their own country, except of course when they can make one of them a star, like Chantelle, or Jade, but in the case of Jade, it's backfiring on them so far.

The way that company operates is a unfathomable mixture of pretend political correctness and crude exploitation and manipulation, but when they leave the guests alone and allow the clever format to do its thing, it can be great TV, when they manipulate it, as they so often do, its bullshit.

If your thinking of replying to this and saying Big Brother is a capitalist distraction..opium for the masses plot, designed to keep us numb, while they steal our money and exploit us etc, no need, I already know your point of view.
We'll be coming back to Kevin for his opinions on various key issues as we tiptoe tentatively through 2007.

Don't forget that 'The Projected Passion Revue', which collects all of Dexys' recordings from 1981, is released on January 29th.

Cheers Kev, looking forward to hearing from you again soon.
