I think wangi first brought this website to my attention but I've only recently started to explore it. It seems to have really taken off, with new content constantly being added.

There is some truly weird and wonderful stuff on there, including lots of rare band footage like the Revillos video I found last night. Tonight I've been watching Iggy Pop and The Cramps. Did a search on 'Portobello' and didn't find much of interest, so I've uploaded one of our own films to redress the balance.

Which reminds me. Isn't it time you sent your own video masterpieces to Portobelly Telly?

The problem is that Youtube has unlimited re-use rights for anything posted on the site (so long as it was posted by the copyright holder). See http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20060727.html for an explanation.
[end of rant]
Some nice stuff by the Young Marble Giants though, and Die Doraus Und Die Marinas.

You could scour Youtube for days and not find anything thats funnier than this:

You don't need sound.

And here is another one of my favourites: they just look so damned happy:

That was very clever and inventive. I'm not a big fan of rap for several reasons ... but when the artist does something like this ... it's impressive.

Film ... is there nothing it can't do??

Event-style rave featuring TOP BUZZ djs and, er, a wedding

Even if you hate rave music (which I'm guessing is 80% of you) watch it as far as the wedding (4:02)

If necessary, "Situationist". Bit of a mouthful though so I'm hoping to hang on to this one for as long as.

I love the B-52s and 'Rock Lobster' is certainly one of their finest moments. I hadn't seen this version but had this in my YouTube favourites:

The great Dwight Yoakum with the equally great Harry Dean Stanton ham it up on "Sorry You Asked".

Also features the finest trumpets on a record since Herb Alpert last puffed out his cheeks.

Just had a thought. We could pay homage to Dwight on Portobelly Telly. All we need are a pair of stetsons, some dodgy leather trousers, a pink cadillac and Ali and Nelson singing 'The Streets of Portobello'

That would be some sight!!! :o

I know that Nelson has a pair of leather trousers that look dodgy on him..........

As a PS to the link above, here's a fan's tribute to Dwight which explains why he is rarely seen without a stetson.

The hapless drinks thief is very funny ... he should be nominated for the "Determined, but Stupid!" award.

Scoop's effort ... well, anything with football in it I switch off. Especially if it concerns the Jamboes OR the Bluenoses!!
