Can anyone recommend a good local dentist, ground floor offices preferably, who might be able to take at short notice a new patient who has woken up with a (mysteriously) missing filling?

Have you tried the one just round the corner from the Bank Of Scotland, on Brighton Place?
There are 2 practices in the same building so I'm sure one of them will have an emergency appt?
They are taking NHS registrations last I heard.
Good luck.

1st chance I've had to get online so apologies if I'm too late. Lyles in the High St is all on one level. If you're not registered with a dentist there's a walk in clinic at 3 Chalmers St near the old Royal infirmary(opp eye pavillion, eldest was there during summer). Seem to remember disabled access ramps. The phone no is 0131 536 4800

Thanks!
Well, one of the Brighton Place dentists offered me an appointment next week - if I didn't mind the dentist carrying me up the steps! I declined, but when the other two (Lyle's and the other Brighton Place one) offered me an emergency appointment in *January* I gave in and opted for the adventure

Re: the emergency dentist at Chalmers Street.
Been there a couple times myself within the last year. If you tell them you're not registered, they will recommend a dentist who will take on NHS ... though not necessarily a local one.

That would have been my next stop if Porty dentists had all been too busy. Was lucky!

Can report that the staff at the Brighton Place dental practice(s) are very helpful, cheery and efficient, well they were today anyway.
But don't recommend them to anyone who uses a wheelchair until they get their ramp constructed next year!!

were you assisted up the stairs by the lovely young Irish dentist?!
I went there for the first time too last week and I will be sure not to miss any more six month check ups.

tis a Wemyss cat, my gran had one.
I was at the dentist for a free check up as I'm "with child", It's quite difficult to flirt with a bump and dentist hands in your mouth.
