Just listened to Bruce Springsteen in concert (The Seeger sessions) on Radio 2. Excellent and much better than Saturday night tele. Think I'll be singing 'Pay me my money down' tonight until Homer snaps and sellotapes my mouth shut

missed this program but I've been listening to the album for a couple of weeks - it's great stuff and the accordion solo on "pay me my money down" is a belter - sounds as if it could be flaco jiminez but unfortunately I haven't got the sleevenotes....................Marya wrote:Just listened to Bruce Springsteen in concert (The Seeger sessions) on Radio 2. also just heard Neil Young's "Lets impeach the president" -
"Let’s impeach the president for lying
And leading our country into war
Abusing all the power that we gave him
And shipping all our money out the door
He’s the man who hired all the criminals
The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors
They bend the facts to fit with their new stories
Of why we have to send our men to war
Let’s impeach the president for spying
On citizens inside their own homes
Breaking every law in the country
By tapping our computers and telephones
What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees?
Would New Orleans have been safer that way?
Sheltered by our government’s protection
Or was someone just not home that day?
Let’s impeach the president
For hijacking our religion and using it to get elected
Dividing our country into colors
And still leaving black people neglected
Thank god he’s cracking down on steroids
Since he sold his old baseball team
There’s lot of people looking at big trouble
But of course the president is clean
Thank God"
As usual Old Neil doesn't miss and hit the wall

Someone sent me this
http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/numa.php
It is laughingly referred to as "music". I am going to find the person who sent it and slowly roast him over a very low gas flame, then I will serve him up to Quisquenya and Cubanucab, my faithful bull mastiffs.
Watch this and I know you will understand and applaud my actions.

Mr E's become a big JC fan too since we saw the film. You sure you were playing it in your house and it wasn't just the noise from ours filtering along?mr magnolia wrote:San Quentin, from The man in black.
Much to mrs m's disgust, the three magnoliettes have turned out to be raving Johnny Cash fans. Car journeys will never be the same!
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

21st Century Aura are an ambient dub outfit I discovered on an old compilation called - er - "Ambient Dub vol. 1" which was an oasis in what then was a desert of bad techno.Gilo wrote:You've got 9 minutes...Dadaist wrote:Do you want the short answer or the long answer?
They were part of the whole Club Dog / Drum Club / PWOG / MC Teabag / System 7 / Banco De Gaia hippy festy rave squat thing that it was incredibly hard to find out about because back then there was no internet, just the odd snide release and a bunch of PO Boxes.
Anyway, this record was playing when I walked into their roadshow at the arches in 93 and I've loved it ever since. It comes off the back of a track which seems to rip off Depth Charge, but I've never been able to work out who sampled who.
Anyway, it's instrumental ambient dub but with wobbling bass and loose skanky production and odd samples from the Monkees movie "Head" which is right up my street, plus others I've never been able to spot.
The short answer was "Yes" btw.
