Your honesty, integrity and compassion shine through your posts and I know that you care deeply about all human life.

I'm sure you're not overly concerned by attacks on your beliefs, as they are convictions which flow from your conscience. Ignorance is when one closes ones eyes and ears - yours are open.

So we are now using your ignorance as the way ahead. You never heard of OBL prior to shock and awe? FYI prior to 9/11 he was number 2 on the FBI most wanted lis

He subsequently became the most wanted in 100% of the World. And prior to the Iraq war he appeared on a number of videos claiming responsibility for 9/11.

Quite a while later it was acknowledged that Al Q and OBL had no coonection with Iraq, excepting an enmity with Saddam

Gemini wrote:But we sure know what they are about now ,along with a myriad of other factions who are totally anti west! Thanks Tony
Er, Tony wasn't around at the time of the crusades.Which is approx when this started

To answer your points - I at least have the decency to respond to them all - unlike you sadly - when you cherry pick what and what not you respond too.

i) Firstly - No need to use my ignorance - I freely admit it your honour - that I was totally in the dark about OBL being No.2 on the FBI's most wanted list.
Why would I want to know prior to 9/11?

Porty:

Gemini:

ii)Every man and his dog knows this - now - I am sure that I am not alone in my ignorance of OSB before 9/11! but perhaps the only one to freely admit to it?

Porty:
Quite a while later it was acknowledged that Al Q and OBL had no coonection with Iraq, excepting an enmity with Saddam

Gemini:

iii) So it seems.

iiii) So now we are going back to the Crusades? I was talking recent events ie
9/11 and the bombing of Iraq!

The following is a copy of a letter sent to a friend - a professor of Ottoman History - his opinion on the current events

Quote:

When it comes to the Middle East, it was, at the beginning of the war –if there is one, because everything has an honour even the wars but where its?- so certain that the crazy war will reach this conclusion. If you understand that the reason is greed, no need to know all the history of Middle East, the other non-European parts of the world or the history of power. Since the XVIIth. Century, when Hobbes wrote Leviathan, things are going in the same way. Wars are making state, state is making the wars. Without insecure situations or namely wars, there is no need for the state, and it knows very well.
don't forget, wars are the most profitable enterprises, even better than oil and that is why the Pentagon is the biggest corporation in the world.
Why these noneuropean/uncivilized people attack the European countries? I think, because they are helpless and desperate. Their brothers or sisters are killed and they can't do anything. Besides this, they suffer from cultural integration problems end quote<<

Excuse the translation - but I think we get the full gist of what is meant.

As the Proff. says 'the reasons are greed'.

Gemini is this meant to imply that the rest of us are speaking up against peace and justice? This thread is about one man killed in totally distressing circumstances in a war against terrorism... a casualty of war. Accepting that fact does not mean that we are against peace and justice

I can just picture you mounting a counter-demonstration against one of the big civil rights demonstrations in the US back in the days of Martin Luther King, holding a wee banner saying "but your President was democratically elected!"

Just explain how someone (Gemini) who claims a degree of wordly knowledge and savvy could fail to have heard of OBL until 18 months after 9/11? Especially as is your own words she has her eyes and ears open.

Quite amazed at the logic at play here! end quote<<

So not alone - sorry Porty, I am not the information sponge that you give me credit for. However, what seem blatently obvious to me, is that any type of compassion for fellow human beings is beyond your ken.

Gemini, shock and awe was not 9/11. Shock and awe was the strategy employed in bombing Iraq. There was 18 months between the two events.

Can you please withdraw your comments about my lack of compassion for fellow humans, (or whatever it was), it is out of order.

I have been trying to make sense of this tragic and regrettable event.

I imagine that the Brazilian immediately came under suspicion for wearing a padded Jacket, like me, many people have a strong aversion to men wearing padded Jackets, there is just something about them. If I had been in charge of the investigation I would have said "Hello, Hello, Hello padded Jacket at 2 o'clock, lets keep a close eye on this chap "

Now we don't know exactly how padded this Jacket was but if it was one of those puffy ones, then lets face it the guy had done well remaining at large One could argue that the police showed remarkable restraint.

One puzzlement is why padded Jacket was apprehended AFTER he got off the Bus and not before? Surely he must have started whistling or even worse, not lifting his feet, possibly both. The Police decided to move in quickly. A whistler, in a padded Jacket, shuffling his feet, in a public place, no, no, no no no.!!!

I can only assume he had no facial hair as he would not have made it up the path.

yeah yeah, Porty. Now to get real a bit - how many suicide bombers run away?

And I note with interest (and some surprise) that if your allegedly ARE a suicide bomber in the West Midlands, you only get stunned.

Well, they probably would have shot him had he run away after being told to stop several times, presumably with a reasonable understanding of the English language seeing as he'd been here for 10 years - but the circumstances were obviously different........ so now you're slagging the Police off for NOT shooting somebody. Make up your mind

Mr M! I have no idea if suicide bombers would or would not run away. They are not exactly endowed with normal behavioural skills.

However, it is not beyond possibility that they would attempt to surround themselves with as many people as possible, like onto a tube train, in order to kill. I bet the police didn't think he was running away but running too. Possibility?

One reason why a Tazer gun may have been deployed in the arrest of the guilty bomber? It was 4:30am, he was probably in bed without a rucksack on and he may have been sleeping. I am surmising, but it is very likely a totally different scenario. Even if there were explosives found at the scene.
(Edit) And something I didn't think of, they wanted him alive, as there were minimal other lives at risk, they took a calculated risk and pulled off a stunnning arrest.
