The old cobblers shop next to that Kitcheners place is open for business at Portobello Foot care. Noticed last week but forgot to mention in the passing.

If it has shut down then it didnt last very long.
I did notice they had a sale on, and then a double sale thing. It could be that they were trying to clear out as much stock as possible before refurbishing or sumat.

I think the BBC news website could be considered my favourite website based on the time spent on the site. Far more time than any other site.

Not a shop but someone looking to start a business in Porty.

Thanks- and in that case it definitely has been there for 40 years. I was about 8 and my mum took my brother and I in there for a treat. We both got coca cola in the traditional glass bottle. I somehow managed to suck the straw and made the juice shoot up my throat and down my nose. It was horrible. St Andrews must also have been on the high street for more than 40 years. They used to charge 3d for a poke of chips or 80 pokes for £1 in todays money!

Personally, id say that its better to have shops occupied than laying empty.
I say good luck to the trading assistant. There is certainly a lot of them about the UK and by looking them up on ebay they do seem to be making a number of sales.
Perhaps the new occupant of the shop is trying to make some cash out of the depressing economic climate we have at present. Help people make some cash from their unused/unwanted items they have in their homes. (with the trading assistant taking a small commission).

Perhaps. I'd rather sell my own stuff direct.

Im sure many people want to sell their own stuff direct, but it does seem to be well proven that there is a thriving market for people selling via trading assistants / posts.
I have often sold things myself direct.
I think it provides an option, there is a bakers in Portobello - people dont have to use it, they can make their own bread, rolls etc;

Was passing this evening and there is a banner hanging on the railings out the front advertising that it was re-opening under new management. No date mentioned as yet though.

I see the old Wisteria Lane shop is being given a lick of paint. Anybody any ideas what the plans are for the shop?

The Tea Room closed a wee while ago - after "yet another flood" it was not possible to keep trading according to the notice in the window.

When we were waiting for our lift to the Dog and Cat home on Christmas morning I had a peek. It's going to be a flooring shop, specialising in hardwood floors. Might do better as that's not an impulse buy !!Not the best location. If Wisteria Lane had been in Morningside or Stockbridge it would probably still be there.
whatever, am i bovvered

Not an empty shop but the Dragon Way on Bath Street has a new manager/owner.We were in after a long absence. Food was good , service great. Albert really wants to try and put it on the map. He hopes to specialise in seafood.

I heard a rumour that the coffee chain Caffè Nero is moving into the premises formerly known as Select.
