Just 12 minutes elapsed between Pop's post and your retort.

I asked whether it was considered a local issue and pointed out that it has no relevance to me, which it hasnt based on the fact that im only passing through, i never said it didnt enhance the community as alleged.

Now, back to the subject of the PHS perhaps? Surely far more interesting.

I thought you asked:
michael_traill wrote:For the majority of the city. Is a new PHS an issue that is of Edinburgh wide importance? Isnt it a fairly local issue, as its unlikly to affect people in Wester Hailes, Morningside etc?
.
And I thought I gave you a fair and informed answer and you then came back with:
michael_traill wrote: Now, back to the subject in hand perhaps? which is about the school, not me having to justify my thoughts and opinions. Surely the school is more important.
Michael, I've re read your posts and I can't see where you expressed any opinions. There is therfore no need to justify. And of course the school is more important than you but surely you cannot deny that you laid down the following challenge?
michael_traill wrote: I have never contradicted that statment, please feel free to point out where I have!
My point was that only 12 minutes elapsed betweem POP making the statement and yourdenial that you had ever contradicted it.

So to sum it all up; you didn't express any opinion about the school issue, no-one demanded that you justify your lack of opinion and as a result no allegations were made against you. Agreed?

I fear you have too much time on your hands.

Will this thread ever get back on topic?

I was only pointing out that schools are an integral part of a community whether you feel they are relevant or not. 8)

I agree schools are very relevant to communities, what I said was the issue had no relevance to me. For various reasons mainly the fact Im only passing through for a couple of years.

My daughter will more than likly be going to my old high school, although its not so new, a new replacment is currently being built on one of the schools numerous large playing fields. Actually come to think of it all the locals were very pleased a new high school was being built, wasnt as much of an issue as it is up here in regards to PHS.

Well I hope you drop by in a few years to see our new school. Even if you just stand there and say "this school is completley irrelevant to me"- it would still be nice to see you.

I hope the new school will not just be of interest to parents and pupils, but to the whole community. IT will have facilities that can be used by many people out of school hours: as meeting places; areas to carry out crafts and hobbies; sporting facilities that can be used by all ages.
The new school has the potential of being the hub of the community and bringing people together - even those like Michael, who feel they are only "passing through"! There's enough negativity fro certain quarters about the school - let's start to look at the positive - and what we can all contribute to help make the venture a success.

Only if the Council are prepared to pay the Janitors to open outwith school hours.

I'm a member of a quilting group in Bonnyrigg - we meet in Council premises - a nursery school and we have a wonderful janitor, Arthur, who is almost like an honourary member of the group! We pay rent for the use of the premises, as do other groups. Ideal premises - space, toilets and a wee kitchen for hot drinks.
