If it meant we could count in peace then yeah, I'd be tempted to max out one of my credit cards.

Jesus and Mary Chain - Automatic

The magnoliettes have been spirited away in a haze of Werthers Originals, Barbie bags and Smarties; no doubt held together with a twist of candy floss and a mere hint of chips...

I'm hanging the washing to the pounding rhythms of 20yrs ago disaffected urban youth. I may go so far as to have a small,semi-wild, coffee soon. Yeeha!

I put some batteries in my Rio 500 and I found something mr magnolia would like:
Step back and watch the sweet thing
breaking everything she sees
she can take my darkest feeling
tear it up till i'm on me knees
plug into her electric cool
where things bend and break
and shake to the rule
talking fast couldn't tell me something
i would shed my skin for you
talking fast on the edge of nothing
i would break my back for you
don't know why, don't know why
things vaporise and rise to the sky
and we tried so hard
and we looked so good
and we lived our lives in black
but something about you felt like pain
you were my sunny day rain
you were the clouds in the sky
you were the darkest sky
but your lips spoke gold and honey
that's why i'm happy when it rains

Them trying to top Geo. Bush speeches are hilarious. How can they get better than the man himself declaring "humans beings and fish can co -exist peacefully"

How very dare you!

I'll see you there. Mr ecm secured tickets for the front circle. We're taking Dan too so it's costing a fortune. It'll be D's first gig. He was weaned on Neil Young.

I'm as excited about that as I am about seeing Mr. Young.

Snap! We're taking Matthew, but he doesn't know it yet as it is a surprise. It'll be his first gig too, so it will be extra special. From an early age he's sung along very happily to 'The Needle and the Damage Done' We're in Row A in the stalls so will give you a wave :wav:

Me too - front centre balcony. A Christmas/birthday present. (The tickets are Christmas presents, and the concert's on my birthday.)

If anyone's got Telewest, its Music on Demand has the Live Rust concert from 1978 free gratis. I've just watched it and it's excellent: Powderfinger, Cortez, Hey Hey My My and Damage Done are standouts.

A word of warning, though: Neil went "arty" around 1978, and the concert is interspersed with scenes of midget monk roadies sorting the stage. These drag a bit, so keep the remote control handy.

Thanks Kipling, we watched it and after Matthew's less than enthusiastic reaction maybe we should be putting his ticket on ebay

Through The Past Darkly...........Rolling Stones
my favourite track.......You better move on

Due to the demise of my goldfish, I now have access to my turntable which hasn't been used for about twenty years. Amazingly it still works despite poor old Kris Kristofferson sitting there covered in dust.
Next will be some T Rex followed by Linda Ronstadt then back to some more Stones, I have five or six of their albums so it could be a long night.

Attic Lights - Never Get Sick of the Sea

OK I'm a teeny bit biased as the drummer, Noel, is a wee brother of a pal from home (and I feel ancient as I remember him only as a baby, without the beard). However, I reckon their single, due out tomorrow , could do really well. Good luck to them!

I'm listening to music by local indie band My Late Travels. They cite the Smiths, The Cure and Velvet Underground, among others, as influences so if that sounds like it might be your thing give them a listen at:
