Old T-Shirts

I don't want any close examination of my closer clothing elements after this, but I feel the need to explore the world of old t-shirts. How old is your eldest publicly functioning one? And does it exhibit it's age as do mine?

I have t-shirts from 1990 (Italia 90) that I keep for the sake of memories but that can't appear in public, but I have a selection of football t-shirts that I bought at various stadia in France '98 that wash and wash with no sign of wearing out. I fear my girth will render them useless before they bite the dust.

Old t-shirts are the best.

Not long after I met Sandra, she had a mission to rid me of my oldest (and comfiest!) t-shirt. There were more holes in it than a cheese grater, and the shape more closely resembled a tent. Sandra thought that grabbing it and ripping it while I was wearing it would make me see sense......but it just made me love it more.

It was a sad day when it finally went to t-shirt heaven.

I have an old sweatshirt. It was even second hand when I got it because my friend got it as a freebie when she was on a course with her work. I've had it now for about 18 years (

) and even though it's got paint on it, holes and a ripped cuff I wear it on an almost daily basis - although not in public if I can help it

My oldest, still working, t-shirt was bought on Tuesday 10 September 1974 at a Grateful Dead concert at Alexandra Palace.

It is emblasoned with the cover of Mickey Hart's Rolling Thunder L.P. and has kept its colour despite 32 years of washing!

Two very faded elderly t shirts; a Siouxsie and the Banshees, and a Bauhaus. Wouldn't risk wearing them in the sunshine in case they disintegrate

I think Rathbone's deserves a wee prize, if only for the potential cool factor of him continuing to wear the thing until the very end, and eventually lying in state, in a shirt with 'grateful dead' on it.

A rather pathetic 1993, given to me by a flatmate who was off to sell GM cars to US soldiers in West Germany.

On the front it says "GM Military Sales" and on the back "Unmatched Service And Protection"

BC answered the door in the said T shirt expecting me and it was his downstairs neigbour up to complain about something.

I don't really do T-shirts but I had a really fabby fleece which I got rid of when people kept asking if I was pregnant..

Normally I would have been embarassed, but seeing as I couldn't stand the guy the sight of me in boxers and a (very) ripped t-shirt left him pleasingly speechless.

Great idea... wish I'd thought of it first.
The 'what happens next' section of the Will will be amended accordingly and a suitable Grateful Dead track added to the valedictory CD.
