Quite rightly, Findlay's haggis and sausages feature regularly in good food awards. However, on this occasion I would like to highlight another less well-known, fantastic local product - Williamson's hot-smoked salmon.
For some time now, they have been smoking salmon tails on the premises but more recently they have started smoking fillets as well. While the tails are delicious and make a great inexpensive lunchtime treat, the fillets are absolutely superb. Fabulous smoky flavour without being overpowering, this a melt-in-the-mouth experience of gourmet quality at a give-away price. Simply add a little salad, a glass of wine and you have fast food fit for a king.
I love hot-smoked salmon and for me this is one of the very best. You could package this and sell it in huge quantities at twice the price but, for now at least, it's our little secret. Enjoy.

The last time we went for a curry you nearly had me in tears as you conjured up terrible visions of wee doe-eyed coos blinking up at you helplessly as great chunks of their rumps were roasted and cubed before being drizzled with red hot curry sauce - No. 37 on the menu you said - "coo's ar se in curry sauce" - I ended up with a veggie biryani instead.
Then there was that time I tried to order a bacon roll in Morrison's Caff. You said that little piglets were jammed in to bacon slicing machines and cried for their mammys as thin slices of their little fat piggy buttocks were sliced off before being fried to a crisp and plonked on to a roll and sloshed with a dollop of brown sauce.
I had a caramel wafer instead.
Are you now telling me that you have been eating fish?
