The Seafield Road East fence, again !!

Post by promqueen » 02 May 2006, 12:32

Mentioned this on another thread - can't remember which one ! - and was told that the fence had been fixed. I think, aptly enough, some wires were crossed as the fencing which consists of concrete posts and strands of rusting wire all along the roadside from the Fillyside bridge onwards is a disgrace! It's a pretty long drop down to the beach, and at some points there isn't even wire, so it could be a real hazard for young children, dogs and adults overcome with the fumes from the sewage works.
Does anyone know who we should speak to about this or who is responsible for erecting and maintaining it? Ta ! :?

I think it was me who said it was fixed... Crossed wires though - I was talking about the railing along the Prom at the back of Seafield.

Managed to find out who to talk too? It'll probably end up being CLARENCE: Telephone 0800 232323, clarence@edinburgh.gov.uk

Wangi, is the nice lawn with picnic tables along beside the dog and cat home new? Why is it fenced off?

No idea... Must have cycled past it three times this week and not noticed.

I'll be on the look out tonight / tomorrow. Was in "blinkers" mode cycling this morning, as PoP must have noticed!

If you mean the big paddock like bit of grass - it's fenced off because it belongs to the Dog & Cat Home. It's where the dogs are exercised during the day and the staff can sit at the nice table with their cuppa whilst throwing balls about and either a) get a tan or b) get their ears blown off in a gale (dogs don't care about the weather)
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

So its probably been there for years and I didnt notice!!! Honestly had no idea.

How ironic that the incarcerated Cats and Dogs of Portobello have more green leisure space than the children at Portobello High School.

I don't think it's made much difference to the amount of dogs doing Advanced Higher PE this year though
