thought I should introduce myself here - though have already dived in to discussions on Scotmid.
so hello - fairly new to Porty - almost a year actually but been so busy working and with getting 2 teenagers settled in socially - this is me just getting round to dipping my own toe in the community pond.

Hello
Have known about this place for some time and have nosied around a fair bit. I enjoyed learning about John Williamson the Fishmonger and have chatted to him since reading online.
I'm a married mum who's lived in Porty for four years and I love the place.
Hope to come in now and again (if i get the chance!!) and get to know some of you.
best

Hello! I've just discovered this place after seeing the banner on the front of Portobello Town Hall as I was coming home today. I grew up nearby Portobello, but I've recently moved to Porty High Street and am absolutely loving it. I've never been so happy, this is a special place! It's great that so many people care about making Porty as great as it can be. And there are some great places to get scones!
Hey, you can tell the quality of a community by the quality of its scones! Kitchener's (not sure if that's spelled right, I'm always too busy eyeing up the cakes to notice the signage) win on the perfect crustiness and taste, the Blue Bean for size and Sunday opening! (I wonder if I'll find a box of Greggs freebies on my doorstep tomorrow so that I'll big them up next?) This forum is great! I'm so nosey, I have to know everything!!! So I'm ploughing my way through the posts. A thread about Scotmid! I couldn't be happier!

We should probably have a forum where user can post topics about themselves so that other uses can get to know everyone better! They could be locked topics or left open for comments etc?CatzVP wrote:I still dont have a clue who most of you are!!!

hello everyone
Well, here I am, your newest member!!!
Been lurking for quite some time and thought it was about time I got myself registered!!!!
Lived in Joppa until I got married over thirty years ago( showing my age here!!!) Get a bit homesick, even now!!!
But reading the forums keeps me in touch with what's going on!!!!
Also like some of the threads about " old portobello" ( or Joppa!)
And " wnagi's" pics!!!
Brings back lots of memories

Your pics are really great! Are these all the shops that are in Portobello and Joppa now?
Foxy, you asked if I spent a lot of time on the web. It's mainly in the evenings, but sometimes at the weekends I spend more time online.

Don't give up on your attempts at being witty. Remember Robert the Bruce and that, eh, arachnid.
finally got my avatar!!
I'm so chuft with myself now!!!
Finally managed to make my pic small enough to put as my " avatar" (yes!!!!)
Used the resize2mail, had to do it a few times before I had the right size, but got there in the end!!
Any time I try something new all by myself on my computer, and it works, I get quite excited!! You can tell that I don't get out much!!!!
