I'll post my thoughts on the book on the appropriate thread later.
What thread is that? Book of the month?
Can we have a PKD thread? Help?
The Monthly Big Read thread which seems to have fallen away a bit of late. Not sure if there are other books to be discussed before TMINTHC or not.
I did a bit of googling on PKD, sounds an interesting character right enough.

That 'author' ruined Rosslyn Chapel! BTW, where's Rathbone
As avid readers of the Big Read threads will know, I have been away working in Kenya. Now I'm back, if people want me to devote at least one Friday to a big read, then I'll start again next month.
Nothing could ruin Rosslyn Chapel, least of all a w****r like Dan Brown.
I subscribe to the zen ending of The Man In the High Castle. i.e. it just 'ends'. ( I don't know what it's about either but it's likely that neither did Philip K. Dick - that's one of the more enjoyable aspects of his work.)
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.

Welcome back Rathbone. Enjoyed your piccie taken at the equator.
Wasn't sure if there were other books waiting to be discussed apart from TMITHC or not, but yes, it'd be good to get organised with the reading again.

Tonight I am attempting to banish the 'slit your wrists' red from COCs former cave. Tomorrow I'm babysitting 4 kittens but it doesn't matter because I'm off now for SIX WEEKS............

Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

Tonight I'm going to sit down with a bottle of wine to celebrate finishing my studies and being awarded my certificate last night

. Tomorrow we're supposed to be marching (although other half isn't well, so we may have to give that up), and the next couple of days we'll (read: I'll) be packing for our hols, and trying to leave the house in a decent state for the person who's stayinmg while we're away...
But right now all I'm thinking of is the wine...

All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

From what I've seen of it, they both seem like fairly unlikeable verging on racist

Think I'll stay in this afternoon and watch the coverage of the Hyde Park concert.
Seems to be a very good turnout for the march up at the Meadows from what we're seeing on the news just now.

Same here with a little bit of Wimbledon if the rain stays away. Definitely going to avoid going up town

Just saw some live footage from Princes Street showing most shops open and business as usual.
The only shop that seemed to be boarded up was the Ann Summers shop????

There's lots of banks etc on George St boarded up. Lots of scaffolding has been take down and road works tucked away for citizen disruption at a later date no doubt

Beach Baby and I are watching Live 8 just now (inbetween doing toddler walking round the garden). Anyway, she's on the floor beside me just now doing the cutest wiggle in time with the drums on Dido's Thank You

Annie Lennox has just performed - she looked and sounded great.
The rest has been disappointing, if not painful, to listen to/watch so far.
Looking forward to seeing Madge later.

I agree Annie Lennox was great. Nobody else has been outstanding but I wouldn't have said disappointing. I don't think the sound is that good but that could be my TV

I agree that Annie Lennox was amazing - but I think she's totally fab anyway. Beach Baby also thinks the same as she danced to Sweet Dreams

How cool is Madge? What a great wee set.
Like a Prayer, Ray of Light and Musik.
Fantastic stuff. She was in great voice and her band and the gospel choir who backed her were excellent.
She said a rude word, though. Mind you, not as rude or nearly as many as Mr. Snoop Dog.
