POEM FOR PORTY

Prolific poster and Springsteen fan,
Wind-up merchant and business man.
Always eloquent without profanity,
Never questioning the moderators' sanity.
A pink-shirted expert on Friday night frolics,
Brickies, plumbers and economics,
Coffee, cats and scrambled egg,
Not to mention David Begg.
Our cycling hero going for gold,
A lycra-clad wonder to behold.
A marathon man (or so you claim),
A star in the POL Hall of Fame.
A year ago you joined our ranks
and for that day we all give thanks.
You outposted most in a matter of weeks,
Entertaining us all with your critiques.
And so dear Porty congrats to you,
For without you now what would we do?

Well done Marya =D> =D> =D>

I hadn't realised that Porty had only been a POLer for such a (relatively) short time. I thought he had been around forever
Happy anniversary Porty

Marya, what a funny, well constructed poem that is. I am p***** myself laughing and touched by the recognition  You have Porty nailed. Thank god the writer is nothing like him in real life.

Ta, to Teddy and Poppy too. Its only a Year, plenty more drivel where that came from.

Ah yes Gemini, its only a Year since I cured you of your quotation mark over usage. Like i said at the time, I made you what you are today. If you remember what you said in response, it was very rude indeed. :D

Congratulations Porty. I feel I have gleaned more about your psyche in the last year than in all the previous God knows how many years we have lived in close proximity to one another. And what did you used to do with your time before you joined POL?

Congratulations to you too on your poem Marya. I think we should start a poetry composition thread and you have set the standard.

Not when I walked past. Was it your dear self Poppy ? If so you must have been visiting the little girls room at that time. Just as well as I wouldn't have been able to scuttle past without saying hello if you'd been there.

I might have known it would be her, she doesn't need much leading astray that one

By the way Epykat, were you at Ingliston at the week-end ? If so we will have to compare notes. You always get a bigger one than me

I'd already BEEN to school - I was on my way home to make the tea when I was propositioned. Much as I protested, they forced me into that chair and furnished me with a wine glass. I hope you noticed I had my shades on - good move since my mother in law actually walked past me
Great poem Marya - didn't you have any housework to do or something? :D

*horrified tone* Housework? You know my view Epykat - a house with that 'lived in' look is so much more welcoming. Well, at least, I've been trying to convince Homer of this fact for the last *gulp* 20 odd years
I suppose we should have realised that we were opposites when after our first night of passion he repaired my hoover and hoovered the flat........

It's quite a record. One part wit, one part wind-up and one part complete shite. All human life is there.

And what a year! Top poster, host of our first-ever POL get-together, inspired leader of the Friends Reunited project, founder member of the POL promotions team and now flying the flag for Portobello Online in the Edinburgh Marathon. (Don't worry, I'll do you a nice obit. )

Porty - we couldn't have made it without you.
