Okay perhaps I should have said it wasn't quite my cup of tea and I was a bit disappointed.
There was a big screen video juke box thing playing very loud heavy rock and two people were having a very loud (good natured) argument at times from one side of the room to the other.
Walked down the prom to Dariada (sp?) - a haven of peace and sophistication (except when they open the kitchen door and the radio blares out)

Maybe once the kitchen is up and running and the dining side of the bar is used, the atmosphere will improve Gedge. At least that horrible sticky carpet has gone and it all feels a lot fresher. Must admit that I like "The Dalriada" too but for others that want a jukebox and big screen TV "Utopia" does it quite well I feel.

We popped in for one on Saturday night and the place certainly looked clean and fresh. It was very busy in the smoking area but the nice barman let us puff round the corner in the dining area seeing as no-one was in there.
Actually, there was a nice wee doggie having a drink of water!

I and a number of my neighbours have over the past six or so weeks, have had to continuously contacted the out off hours environmental health noise disturbance dept . They turn up at you house from 11pm onwards to witness noise disturbance. This is done with a view to eventually collecting a enough evidence to challenge present and future alcohol license. The staff and Lawrence have been very helpful. The up shot is that on Sat evening the environmental health team took with the publicans knowledge a noise level teats. It was concluded that the Tides Inn would not be allowed to have live music events and this recommendation is being forwarded to the Licensing committee. A restriction will be put on the licence. Great relief all round. We still have noise from loud music but we will continue to call out the environmental health team, when this occurs and hopefully after proving this disturbance we will get a successful conclusion. A number of table and chairs have been placed on the pavement which ordinarily would not bother me but the continues load and foul language is horrendous. I contacted the council and it transpired that you require a licence to do this and surprise, surprise, they have no licence and have not applied for a licence. So hopeful this practise will also cease in the near future.
This process seams to have been an eternity to us but in fact has occurred over a few months.
I hope that we are coming to a successful conclusion very soon. It still very sad that no intervention was made from Sue.

So it’s Saturday 11.10pm and despite the tides inn being informed that they are no longer aloud to have a karaoke, they are having one anyway. This has now stopped with the appearance of six police cars and a police van that make there way to the Tides Inn. No idea what’s going on other than a large group of young people spilling in to the street in various states of inebriation. This group did disperse quickly and fairly peacefully with load shots that they were going to Lockend for what ever reason. LUCKY LUCKY Lockend. Well done punch pubs your really are living up to your name. This is getting beyond a joke. Thanks for another night of misery. Still at least the Karaoke has ended.
