A lot slower than it used to be? I am finding it so at home and at work.

Speed it Up!
Porty, I know you use Firefox, and if Alex is lurking, so does he. Oh I think Wangi does too.
Try this speed machine! that I just got, courtesy of elsewhere. For some reason it loads the page about half way down, so scroll to the top to get what you need!
Top tip - do not include the quotation marks in the address bar - just type it in as it is. When you want to change the settings as it suggests, just scroll down to the relevant entry and double click. That gives you a box to type in your required entry.
Now all I need to do is work out which setting to change to allow the Private Messaging to work correctly...

ps: no doubt an administrator type dude will let me know if these settings hurt the server or the bandwidth costs or any other technical stuff?

Nice one, MrM! What's the problem with PMs - works fine for me. Re the server etc, don't worry about it - in the end it downloads the same amount of data, just it trys to get it quicker. If the server cannot cope with the load then it'll deny the connection and the browser will try again later. The server can also be configured to only allow a set number of connections from a client.mr magnolia wrote:Porty, I know you use Firefox, and if Alex is lurking, so does he. I'm guessing the speed issue was just a general blip, because I don't think anyone done anything specific to fix anything. And Telewest issues would also have an effect too - since everyone and their dog seems to use them! Hint, http://metronet.co.uk/ will save you cash and will be much better too...

Wangi
I think Porty and I have the same issues re PMs - I can open and read any messages, but I cannot reply. The page just hangs 'waiting for server'. I have to crash out and re-enter in Internet Explorer, which is a bit weird as when I get back in I find I am apparently still logged on the system...

Mr M, I had to stop using Firefox sometime ago as many bank and financial sites made it act weird or vice versa. Dont know what was causing the slow down on POL? From memory the only prob I had with PM's was I wasn't being alerted when they arrived. However, its has been such a long time since anyone on POL sent me a PM it hardly concerns me.
Wangi, I'm thinking of upgrading Broadband speed, Im currently with Blueyawnder
Whaddya recommend.?
