Oh, and hope you had a really great 40th DG - can't wait til it's mine
Happy Birthday thread
We seem to have got off lightly. Prombabe's in Carlisle and they're completely flooded. No way in or out of Carlisle today, helicopters on alert, no porch roof and no electricity for about 30 hours! Luckily her phone's still working

Epykat, was thinking of you as I know you have relatives in Carlisle. My folks are in Gretna, just 9 miles away. They seem to be OK, although they had a lucky escape early this morning when their house was hit by a large tree, causing a fair bit of structural damage. No-one hurt luckily. Gretna's big cup tie against Dundee Utd was called off and I can't see Carlisle being able to play at Brunton Park for some considerable time.Epykat wrote:We seem to have got off lightly. I've been watching the TV coverage and Carlisle is just unrecognisable under all that water.
Coz they told us so on the telly..... and we recognised the castlePorty wrote:So how did you know it was Carlisle?Bob Jefferson wrote:I've been watching the TV coverage and Carlisle is just unrecognisable under all that water.

Thank you everyone for my Happy Birthday wishes. That was really nice to come back to. We had a really relaxing time at the Lodge at Loch Lomond - swimming, steam room, saunas and a birthday massage for me on Friday - ahh, so relaxing, just what we needed. Luss, however was starting to experience serious flooding before we left yesterday. The pier, that normall stands arounf 6 to 15 feet above the water level is now virtually covered. Must be really scarey for the owners of the old cottages by the loch.
It's Mr DG's birthday (GG on the forum) today so we went to Sizzlers for a family meal last night and had such a good time we went again for lunch today. Food and service was great and most of my family are planning various nights out there - good to hear for local business. They tolerated the 7 active and energetic kids very well (probably better than I did
).
So, I'd like to wish Graham, my husband and best friend a very Happy Birthday today

Both in one weekend that's handy...or maybe not??
Sounds like you had a great time in Loch Lomond and at Sizzlers

Thanks, folks!
Foxy, it is actually really convenient as we have a birthday time of year - 3 days - and don't buy presents but put our money together to go away for a few or couple of days. This would not be so easy if our birthdays were far apart. The downside is that we are both Capricorns and share similar traits - there are plus and minus points to this

Thanks for all the birthday greetings
I'm enjoying an easy night in watching Collateral, drinking beer and eating all the chocolates I got today. Trying to chill before going back to work tomorrow. Need to get back to work to loose all these extra pounds!
Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year.

All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

Happy birthday Prombabe,
I'm a capricorn too, 23rd Dec, though. Xmas was always a bit full on as a child for me. First there's the birthday pressies then Santa and finally Xmas. Whew. However, there was always some who bundled the birthday and Xmas presents into one humbug!!
Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last river has been poisoned, only after the last fish has been caught, only then will you find, that money cannot be eaten.
