Libraries Strategy: Consultation

Post by seanie » 31 Dec 2011, 12:13

The Council's consulting on a new libraries strategy, not closing any but changing and reducing opening hours. Portobello would go from being open 59 hours a week to 51 hours a week; Monday-Wednesday unchanged at 10am-8pm; Thursday shutting at 5pm instead of 8pm; Friday unchanged; Saturday 10am-5pm; Sunday closed.

The proposals and consultation survey can be found here.

The proposal & consultation also covers access and the range of services provided by libraries. (e.g. electronic access, activities for baby/toddlers, teenagers, ...)

Library Closures Move is shelved
Sunday opening times will remain at Muirhouse, Newington, Oxgangs, Portobello, Wester Hailes and McDonald Road, with the latter seeing extended hours to reflect the number of members.
