An idea generated by one of the founding members was to try to do something locally that would leave a legacy for our kids, kids in our community and future generations of kids. After a few 'sherberts' we thought Straiton Place Park was crying out for something so we've tried to come up with some ideas (working with Friends of Straiton and the Parks department from the CEC). We did a survey to gather some local feedback but things have slowed a little of late.
No decisions have been made and the more input from the community the better. We're realistic - to get a park akin to the Meadows would cost in the region of £150,000). So we figured a phased plan should be discussed with those that are interested. Starting with enclosing the park (to keep dogs out and toddlers in) plus improved equipment for younger age group could be a start and something that is achievable.
I believe there may also be another Portydads group...... but not sure who they are but if they're interested in getting involved then we've got a Talkporty forum, a Facebook group or an email distribution list (which seems to get most of the traffic).
