So much wasted effort and energy. There are far more important things that are wrong in the world.
Get a life. Get a bike.

To be brutally honest with you all - having witnessed a cyclist get knocked off his bike and crushed by an artic about 23 years ago in Strood in Kent while the lorry driver hadnt a clue he'd done it and drove off you should be bothered about artics on our narrow streets. The horror of that Friday lunchtime and seeing the state of the guy while he died in front of all of us who were trying to help him before the ambulance arrived is still parked at the back of my brain somewhere. He was young just like many of you and left a devastated family - and all because a lorry cut a corner.

But if Council officials really wanted to reduce parking they don't really need permission for restrictions do they?wangi wrote:https://twitter.com/#!/DavidManson2011/ ... 6896737281David Manson @DavidManson2011
Portobello/Craigmillar Partnership stopd proposed parking ban in Regent/Marlborough St. To report on all traffic probs in Portie. Sensible.
Could they not just start ticketing anyone parked on the pavement?

No...seanie wrote:Could they not just start ticketing anyone parked on the pavement?
This proposed bill sets out the situation pretty well: Regulation of Dropped Kerbs and Pavement Parking (Scotland) Bill (The proposal gathered sufficient support for a Bill to be introduced. Fell at dissolution)

To gedge!
Seems a bit narrow minded to suggest that cars are not part of our every day life. You may have a job that is within pedal distance. I don't. Doctors, ambulances, social workers, nurses, health visitors, midwives, housing officers, police officers, gardeners, painters, joiners, roofers, plasterers, etc you get the drift. The list is long, limited only by the imagination.
All of the above are either people who need to be lots of places quickly or have stuff to transport. Some of them will cycle when they have time. Some of them won't. To suggest that it is a lifestyle choice ( if that is what you are suggesting) to own and want to park a car near your home seems narrow minded and high minded.
A day in the shoes of others n all that. As far as I am concerned all those endorphins appear to be clouding your judgement.

Came across the following.
Seems to be an individual members bill so don't its prospects, but the consultation runs out at the end of June and more information can be found here.Edinburgh Green councillor, Gavin Corbett, has thrown his weight behind a proposed new law to ban pavement parking.
