Best wishes for Hogmanay

Post by Spike » 31 Dec 2004, 20:43

Well, I'm based in Chester now (once a sassenach... ) but I have such happy memories of New Year's Eves in Edinburgh in the 70s and early 80s - I was just reminiscing earlier to my partner about how everyone used to get trollied and congregate at the Tron on the Royal Mile and kiss coppers!

We're having a quiet night at home, just the two of us, and we'll open a bottle of fizz at midnight but I have to say no one does NYE quite like the Scots!

Wishing everyone the best for a happy and healthy 2005...

The festive season this year has been a mixed bag for me, the birth of Baby Jack just before Christmas was such a joy and a blessing, but the loss of my Dad a couple of days ago was very unexpected, a great shock to all the family, but as they say "Thats Life"
Happy New Year to all at POL.
How old would you be, if you didn't know how old you are?

5 hours behind ECM..... Weird... 2 hours ago I was phoning all my friends in the UK and in 3 hours time I will be phoning people here, and Im expecting a New Year call from the west coast in 7 hours!!!!

Our anniversary went well, although the server didn't speak much english but spent most of his time talking to me. which was a little confusing. Oysters Rockefeller, Calamari, King Prawn in a garlic cream sauce, and Duck breast in an Ameretto sauce, with Caramalised Pears with chocolate ice cream with a Swiss Chocolate sauce for Pudding... and wonderful company.

it may sound like a lot of courses but the plate size was....well.......like the vegatable portions........ rather small...!!

Anyway..... less of the sentimental old me.....

Have a Happy New Year ECM!!!! :king: :geek: :joker:

Just back from the street party which was mediocre at best. Seemed to be lacking that spark, everyone seemed quite reserved. Can't be too wrecked as the post above this isn't making the room spin!

Happy New Year everyone!

My Sixteen year old out partying, Mum had to stay put and sober just in case, oh for the days when he was tucked up safely in bed and we could party

Hogmany at the Tron brings back great memories - not sure about Princess Street Party - have never been.

Happy New Year to everyone. Hope you all had a great time last night. I haven't celebrated NY for a number of years so I imagine I'm one of the few without a hangover this morning.

The duck is roasting, I'll be making some lentil soup soon and my wife and son have just returned, completely drenched, from the annual run along the Prom. I would have gone along but someone had to stay home to look after our daughter.

Best wishes

Bob
