Cheese and Toast

If there is a better late night snack? Then I am dutchman.

How good is it? I have just been to Dalraida where thankfully they closed the bar at 11. All 70 people in there were mightly relieved.

Came home and put on Scottish Plain with Galloway Cheese. Now, Im sure Scottish Plain must be the worst bread on the planet in terms of ingredients. However, in terms of taste, it is unsurpassed. Add grilled Cheese and it becomes nothng short of awesome.

Agreed?

My husband would certainly agree with you and it is my daughters staple diet, she likes it with tomato puree under the cheese though, give it a try it's yumeeeeeeee

I suspect Porty that at 1.15am after 8 pints anything hot would taste good

After the very same trip to Dalriada, when I got home I shunned cheese and toast and instead had some Weetabix and milk - scrumptious!

El P recognised the lithe build and way of walking [did he mean 'stagger'? I was spared this sight as I was, thankfully, asleep].

I really love toasted cheese and always put jam on top.

Plain bread does makes lovely toast imho but am normally more of a pan person.

I'm hungry now. Ali and I have to decide which type of takeaway to get in for tonight. I think my vote will be for an Indian.

I'd order soon then. We picked up a takeaway from the Prince Balti at 5pm and it looks like they are geared up for a very busy night, with a waiting list for tables. The 108 was going like a fair as well.

Weird!

As you were posting that, Bob, I was phoning the Balti to see if we could get a table and of course we've left it too late. We got a sudden urge to go out somewhere rather than bed in for the evening.

In a creative

(or could have been hungover!) stage one day, I had Plain bread toasted with one of those small tins of haggis on it followed by a liberal dousing of tomato ketchup........and v nice it was too!!

Also particularly fond of the Plain bread 'heels' which always seem to be extremely thick and are very nice slathered with butter

When I was a kid we used to fight for the Heels. I also used to dream that I was buried inside a toasted Heel and had to eat my way out. Mind you judging by what I weigh this could well have happened................five or six times.

Haggis pizza???

Is that a joke?

Black pepper on CoT is very nice too, but a bit boring obviously in comparison to tinned haggis or jam.
Or the deluxe version of the panfried sandwich version just to bump up that fat intake - yummy!

When I was in first year (uni, not high school) we rolled back from the Chambers St union one night and one of our company (a Portuguese guy called Jorge) cooked up one of those big Co-op "Breakfast Pack" things - you know the ones with about a kilo of link and sliced sausage. He flash fried it though - it wasn't quite raw but it wisnae aw that cooked either like.

Onyways, when I awoke the next morning not only did I not have any form of nasty food poisoning, I didn't even have a hangover.

Ravenous, I had a scottish plain heel with M&S mature cheddar slice melted, add grilled lean unsmoked bacon, ketchup and a little tabasco another slice of toast. Mmmmmm....

Oh and a cup of tea..
