New Dadaist House - Photos

Well, we've started along the road to renovation at Dadaist Towers. Here are a few snaps from today when we first ventured into the attic, and took neo-Dadaist on the first of many trips to our new Mecca - B&Q.....

Transco have now connected us to a supply of North Sea Gas :

We also found these old blazers in a trunk - PHS / Heriots / Watsons?

B&Q have a fantastic range of garden ornaments, almost as good as Dobbies ...

Our garden. If anyone out there is a Vietnam vet with some defoliant left over, please give me a call....

You should bring your undoubted entrepreneurial skills and capitalist tendencies to bear, divide it up and sell it off for development. You could form an unholy alliance with a well known local business man.

Make it your brand new start for the brand new year!

Dada your garden looks very similar to mine..what a nightmare

My advice is to pave it over or get some sheep

Your attic looks like it has lots of potential

Heh - we have got a tree actually, no house lights as yet.

If only I could get my hands on a blow up Reindeer.

Yerss - I kept seeing that from the bus on my way to work, Marya!

Did you ever see the snowman in Bath Street - I've got a good photo of it next to the Spiritualist Church, I'll try and find and post.

Btw - at the moment, I'm not geting any pics up! I can't see the splendour of Dadaist Towers

Is it just me?

I'm always impressed when people get rewiring done - it's a tricky task to convince 'others' that you need to do it:

" It'll cost HOW much!?, and afterwards you won't be able to tell it's been done!? Get away, we're not doing that!"

Still, we don't live there anymore!

But rewiring's not nearly as much fun as taking the old lead tank out

They really did build them to last, and the best bit is the half a ton of crap which is at the bottom of it falling on your head and the realisation that - yes, people did drink out of that very tank

(tip: we got Ã‚Â£25 for ours from the scrappy)

Epykat, you'll remember that the last time you came to visit us oyrs sprung a leak. It turned out that it was too big for the loft hatch (must have been built in before the roof was put on, so it's still up there next to the new tank. Useful for keeping those boxes that things come in and you daren't get rid off in case you need them when you next move.

we popped by this morning with the bathroom tiles to find the place a hive of activity but looking a bit scary

floor boards up everywhere, the place a complete mess but I'm sure it's all progress

I've decided that the best course of action is to forget about it all for the time being

** update **

Wow, things have really started to take shape. The consumer unit (fusebox thingy with all the trip switches) only went in yesterday, but that completed the rewiring job so I can now put my server back online once I get a minute.

Central heating was done in a day. It's amazing. I can't wait to take photos of my new boiler when I get a minute.

Kitchen is halfway built - tiles need to be put down and white goods connected, but it looks brilliant. If I get a minute, I'll take some photos.

Fireplace goes in tomorrow - all the prep has been done for it. Sweep will then come to clean.

Bathroom is prepped and the lighting installed but the tiling and suite still need to be fitted.

That was the good news.

At the bottom of our garden is a new water feature. Bubbling up from a blocked main sewer came a seven foot diameter, foot deep lake of raw sewage. When Scottish Water get a minute, they are going to clear it up...

Seriously, there must be some major health implications.
Console yourself with the fact that the leak at least hasn't come into the house. The blocked drain outside did leak into our house and yes, it was sewage water

As I sit and type I'm being drowned out by the noise of a dehumidifier and two industrial fans that have been going since last Thu afternoon.....and Porty don't even think about any sh1t hitting the fan jokes!

Fortunately, it is not nearly as bad as it sounds (we spotted it early) though the damp area was thoroughly sprayed to avoid all sorts of nasties - Hepatitis A to Z etc. On second thoughts maybe rhubarb isn't such a great idea afterall
