Beach Babe and Dada are moving - right now!

Even as we - er - read - type - Dada and Beach Babe are enduring the trauma of being packed up and moved.

I just met Dada clutching a light-bulb, on the crossing beside Porty's office (which appeared to empty!), in the throes of The Move. All I can say is, my thoughts are with you both, having done it only a few months ago - and I expect Mr. M. and the Clan Magnolia are even more sympathetic! Hope you get there with everything you left with, and the chaos of 'Which box is that in?' doesn't last too long.

And I hope Emily gets better soon, poor bairn.

Indeed!

our sympathies are extended, even from this side of a 3 month period since our own experience. Luckily for us the only known items still missing are the whistling bit from the kettle and an old belt. (Unluckily, the list of 'must do' items gets longer as you get used to the new place.

)

I hope dada and BB (and Emily) are as lucky!

well we've moved

we're firmly ensconced at my parents, waiting for Transco to deign to connect our new house to a gas supply

no disasters or lost items yet - the only mishaps were that my smart coat and the book that I'm currently reading managed to make their way into the storage containers and not into my car. But it could be loads worse

not sure that we're going to be quite as wireless-enabled here as we were at home so you may not see us around the forum as much

thanks all.

the whole move thing has been dampened a bit as wee Em is sick (poor wee soul just started at nursery and probably caught something there - and when we talked to one of our new neighbours today she said that in her boy's P1 class there are 14 off sick!)

things are starting to come together though as telewest and transco are coming round this week to put in their various pipes, and it only took about 20 phonecalls to each organisation, which has got to be good going.

i would like to take this opportunity to thank beach babe for her spare toothbrush, which i will be able to give back sometime in late january when i get mine back from storage.

OK, it's going off topic a bit, but I remember once reading an article on spurned lovers and how they reeked their revenge. One woman told how she quietly packed up her bags , but before she left her two-timing boyfriend, she took his toothbrush and cleaned the toilet with it...

Sorry to hear Emily is ill Dada. Nursery is always a source of a variety of interesting communicable diseases - I remember being 'phoned at work and asked to collect my son who, I was told, had hand,foot and mouth disease

Hope she gets better soon and that the weeks fly by for you.

Dan had the human form of hand, foot and mouth too as wee tot - I remember thinking "surely some mistake?"
It's quite a common virus in wee kids and a fairly mild one.

I hope Emily is better very soon.

we got the keys today so we're just impatient to actually be able to live there

Emily's had another rough day with her breathing but hopefully the antibiotics will be beginning to work now

and BellyBabe - you (and Dada) will be glad to know that it was a brand new toothbrush, still in it's packet

My sympathies to you all - the first born really gets clobbered when they hit all those bugs in nursery; I remember the first magnoliette seemed to live on antibiotics for the first wee while after she started. Horrible days (and nights) that I wouldn't wish on anyone!

I have a friend, Evan Mill, if you are lurking Evan I know you won't mind, in fact I know you will be delighted. A few years back Evan and his pals went to Benidorm and during their stay they decided to play a prank on one of their mates. Every morning they all took turns inserting the poor guy's toothbrush in their rectums. They took photos so that they could show hom on the way home. Wasn't that kind of them?

Having worked in the dental proffesion I have seen some pretty disgusting mouths in my time and have often wondered what people have used their toothbrushes for as it obviously wasn't for cleaning their teeth.

Cool. You're not the only person on the board who know my in-laws.

Philosophically speaking, it's valid for me to offer no answer *as* the answer to the question, or even to answer the question with another question. To draw any sort of conclusion from that is strictly subjective.

So if someone poses something of a knifflige fragen as I find is the case when evangelical christians or scientologists ask leading or rhetorical questions of me, I tend to offer a response for which they are less well prepared.
