Burst Water Mains?

For about the past week now anyone who has passed Brighton Place/Bath Street when going along the High Street will have noticed the volume of water that is pouring onto the middle of the crossroads.

Seems silly that this should be allowed to leak for so long, particularly in such hot weather when we've seen in other parts of the country how water is in such short supply!

Anyone shed any light?

I saw a couple of guys in yellow jackets with clipboards obviously examining the leak yesterday (Tuesday) so I expect something will be happening soon.

I wonder if the leak is connected with the work that meant temporary traffic lights on several Sundays a couple of months ago?
