Benches outside Police Station?

Anyone know why the benches outside the Police Station have been removed?

These seats are always popular with Portobello residents young and old and it seems pretty silly for to remove them when they would no doubt be even more popular in what is the closest thing to a summer that we get!

Can only presume that they have been removed for renovation but will try to find out. Looks like summer has been and gone by the way.

From what I can gather they were indeed removed for re-varnishing and general maintenance and have since been replaced. Culture and Leisure is the deparment concerned.

And I stand corrected - summer is back (for a while anyway!)
