guitar teacher wanted

Post by seashell » 27 May 2011, 20:29

Can anyone recommend a local (Portobello or Musselburgh) guitar teacher for a complete novice, late 40s who wants to learn from scratch? I've played the piano since I was 7 and suddenly have a desire to learn guitar. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated - along with any suggestions regarding the sort of guitar I should be loooking to buy. I am really pretty clueless about this!

Probably not much help but there is/was a guitar teacher called Richard who lived in the tenement beside musselburgh harbour. He is very good. No longer have his number but I believe he also worked at Porty High. Sorry can't be more help.

My son (now 13) and several of his pals use a guy call Ged who holds his Portobello lessons in the Dalriada. Ged is an active musician and regularly plays in a band. He will teach you how to play songs you or like or take you through your grades if that is what you are after. A good guy.

Jed, who often hosts the Sunday Session at the Daliraida does Guitar and Banjo lessons.
He's a really nice guy (one of his bands played at our wedding).

pm me if you want an email address, or go into the Dalriada, that way you can get his details, a beer and a crepe.
