Have you tried the Dalriada or the Espy?

People generally go to bars to socialise with other people, not look out a window.

As far as things that makes bars attractive and successful , I'd suggest that the view out the window comes pretty far down the list. Not that it wouldn't be an added bonus but it's kinda peripheral to the usual bar 'experience'.

Maybe that's just me.

Come back Susan! Seanie doesn't mean to seem curt I'm sure.
I can understand what you mean about cashing in on what makes Porty special, however, both 'The Espy' and 'The Dalriada' have nice big bay windows looking out onto the sea and in the summer (ha!) the garden of 'The Dalriada' is great. Porty's pubs is quite a popular topic on here and we all seem to have different ideas of what makes a good pub.

I don't see how disagreeing with someone makes anybody "look like a dick".

You think a bar with a huge vista would be a huge asset for Portobello.

I don't.

I could be completely wrong and you absolutely on the money.

Either way there's no reason to take offence.

A spat!!- how refreshing. Heard good things about the Mal and must try it. Sandra-yes I would be up for an evening or a sunday lunchtime. We are long overdue a get together. Now, does anyone think that agreeing with someone can make them look like a dick?

If so, I wholeheartedly agree with Seanie.
