Rowan Tree

Post by Bob Jefferson » 18 Aug 2010, 19:57

Anyone else spotted the very attractive sign that has appeared at the back of the boat yard, presumably placed by a resident of Straiton Place?

It asks the question "Whatever happened to the Rowan Tree we were promised?" and is presumably aimed at the Sailing Club.

I haven't seen it.
Care to expand the story?

Soupers, I'm disappointed. I thought you would have the gen on this one. It's still there but now lying flat. I'm guessing maybe the Sailing Club promised to plant a rowan tree? But I've no idea really. Ask your neighbours and report back.

I found this from Sailporty, June 2009:
As you know, the realisation of the club’s plans began with the clearance of the land which, though quick and effective thanks to the council was perhaps over zealous and resulted in more trees than necessary being removed – one of which was a Rowan – a great pity. We then cleared 100 black sacks of rubbish, roots, stones ect. It is our intention to landscape the area you can see images on our web-site www.sailporty.org.uk which show our plans for planting in the autumn when seasonal conditions are best. This may be extended to an area adjacent to the gable end of Beach View affording privacy to residents but maintaining access for window cleaning.

Been under the weather so haven't been out the back to cut grass, hang washing or blether with neighbours.
Looking back on the "we are sailing" thread there is mention of the shrubs being removed and trees felled and an implication that some would be replanted. Thats in the April bit of 2009
