iMac wireless connection problem

I would like to move my iMac into another room but the wireless connection isn't working. Anyone any good with these things? It worked intermittently to begin with but now reports that there is no AirPort card installed. I've spent countless hours trawling through techie forums and trying different things but finally have to admit defeat. I'm beginning to think it may be a hardware issue. Help!

If it's no-longer working at all, regardless of location or wifi network (for example yours, your neighbours, or the BT Openzone one down the street) then I'd agree it's probably a hardware issue... Or a result of some tinkering while trying to fix it!

But that's the level of my insight - can't help much more with Macs I'm afraid.
