Going downhill?

Post by Chas » 30 May 2003, 01:24

It does not seem so long ago that The Portobello Reporter 'reported' the reducing number of vacant shops in the town. But a quick glance along the High Street and surrounding avenues shows that this trend is quickly reversing. Is Porty on the slippery slide again? Are we returning to the grim days of the early 80's. Or can we keep up the momentum of improvements and re-create the Town it once was?

Who knows? What about a Tesco?
That would gee up the local shopkeepers....and give Scotmid and (Bob Jefferson) summat to fret about.

Remember that Aileen of "aileenandfearghal" mentioned she was interested in a shop locally, maybe she's got one of the ones which are up for rent.

I seem to remember seeing a Tesco hallucination photo while flicking through the old abandoned posts today. Horribly convincing! I think it might have been a dadaist..

The old Homecare place next to Chi Wai has a sign up tonight, it's called In-House Design.
Is that what the other shop along the High St is called ?..........could be them relocating. This would a bigger shop for them certainly.

She only went and got a job so that's all on hold for now. Good to know there are still lots out there for the future though!
