Can you believe the weather?

Post by Maria » 10 May 2009, 14:41

Hailstones?! It's May, for heaven's sake! This isn't fair.

Mind you, last Sunday (which was gloriously sunny) I spent working on the allotment, which proved to be a really bad idea, as I dropped a nasty, heavy, sharp set of shears onto my foot - pointy side down. I spent 3 hrs of the Bank Holiday Monday queuing in A&E so I could get a tetanus jab :(

Until a few minutes ago, I was considering limping down again to the lottie to carry out some ineffectual weeding, but then the skies opened. Maybe fate is saying I should steer clear of garden tools for a bit?

It still hurts btw. :( And I'm still grumpy (in case no-one had noticed ).

Aw! And there we were thinking how weed free and pristine your plot was looking....

Mr E is down there as we speak watering his seedlings. What's that about? It's been p**ing down for a week and he has to go and water seedlings because they've been IN THE SHED???

It's not for the faint hearted this allotment business - which is why I stay in the garden.

Told you my pond was better than his

Oooo...posh pond pic Epy. I like the starfish sunning themselves. What are the blue and orange thingies? Mr E is more into the boggy, wind swept look, isn't he?

Thanks Sandra. I think that's the first bit of sympathy I've received. One 'friend' said it was the funniest thing she'd heard for ages.

Oh, I don't know. A peeled grape or two, instruction to put my feet up and not move a muscle. That sort of thing.

Doreen at least gave me a plaster, but I think my screams of anguish rendered her somewhat speechless. Homer was pretty speechless too, but he later admitted that was because he was just running through what he'd say when I accused him of it being all his fault - which he reckoned was inevitable.

I'm off to sunny lanzarote on Sunday as a birthday treat! The weather is crap here. I started climbing the east mast at the freightliner terminal during lunchhour but I had to give up cos of the wind. Was trying to establish how high one has to go to see the cakestand.

Lager and curry for lunch are never a good idea.

I'm sure we will. As long as we're together and have our love to keep us warm it doesn't matter about the weather :love8: :puke:

Awwww sweet Epy

We're going to Greece on our own to celebrate ours, half a year after the actual date mind you, but it will still be warmer than here.

I'm now back in my Doc Martens, winter coat on. The car wouldn't start coz of the damp.

No probs - we'd have fired chips at them.

We had a FANTASTIC time. Scoop and I being witches came in really handy because, I kid you not, after Friday night's weather, the sea was like a millpond, the sun shone, there was not a bit of wind and it was a brilliant night. At one point the captain stopped the boat right under the rail bridge which was awesome - what a feat of engineering! I'm hoping somebody took photos of that since my camera had gone walkabout. On Sunday morning we had a wedding breakfast at Scoop's. We only managed to get through 48 rolls, 4 packs of bacon, 2 dozen eggs, 6 litres of milk, 900 teabags, 2 magnums of Buck's Fizz, two boxes of chocolates, half a smoked salmon and a partridge in a pear tree. And the sun shone  . All in all it's been an amazing weekend and we can't thank our friends enough. Now......better start planning the Pearl........
