Cant comment on the Craigmillar one but ive been a member of Capital Credit Union for nearly four years. They are great. ive never had any problems, and as the city council is a sponsorting employer my savings deduction is taken from my wages by CEC and paid straight to capital credit union. At its recent AGM, Craigmillar Credit Union CCU voted in an entirely new board of five directors – including me - and is in the process of co-opting two more people with appropriate skills to take the credit union forward. Following the first meeting, we have decided to look at extending the common bond to Portobello and perhaps further afield and intend to apply for funding to take this forward. We are absolutely determined to ensure a secure future for this vital organisation which encourages saving and grants loans to members at low rates of interest. I was part of a local group which tried to set one up in Portobello about 10 years ago and have put the CCU in touch with those at the forefront of that project.
