sad news

Wee Mork my male zebra finch died through the night.

He didn't look too well during the day so I kind of expected it.
Poor wee Mindy keeps calling for him. I hope she settles down.

Oh Mamba it's so sad to lose a pet no matter what size it is!You grow very fond of them and are a big part of the family. Especially when they decide to sing when you're watching your favourite programme on the telly!

Anyway, I think you will have to get Mindy a new boyfriend so she doesn't have to pine too much after Mork!!

Thanks for the kind words Arachnid. It is awful quite without Mork. He was the one that sang. Poor wee Mindy must feel lost without him.
I don't know if I want another one. I think I'll wait a few days and see how she goes. I think you have to buy them in pairs.

Just spoke with someone who keeps finches and it's a no go for. He recons the new female would peck Mindy (especially as she's a bit low at the moment having lost Mork).

(Zebra's are quite monogomous aparantly)

It's basically a wait and see how she does situation.

Do hope wee Mindy is o. k. . They sound faithful birds , sorry for your loss . They are part of the family as well . People that don't have pets do not always understand what they come to mean to you . In my thoughts.

Thanks magbagpuss. He was such a cheery wee soul and soooooooo cute. I know I'll miss him, but I guess nt as much as poor wee Mindy will. She seems to be okay and isn't calling for him as much now. Time will tell.

Mindy is now doing better
Since Mork died she just continually called on him.
Last Sunday friends who keep severall types of birds offered to take her to sit with them and see how she got on. She is much happier in like company.
This week they are going to see if Mindy will want to go in with the other finches (It will be her choice).
