Charity Book Scam

Post by SoupDragon » 29 Feb 2008, 13:45

A while ago Mr Soupy, who runs a club from school premises, was contacted by a company implying he'd agreed to the club's name being included in an anti drug awarness book.
They wanted about £200 from the club.
When he said it was a non profit organisation and there were no funds like that available they withdrew and we never heard from them again.

Now we put it down to some admin mistake but we've heard rumours of this happening again.
It seems to be a scam targeting small businesses.

We get this sort of call all the time, some are scams, some are not. However, the end result is the same. One gets SFA for their money if one chooses to participate.

One of the favourites is colouring in books for children in hospital. I reckon for every £ donated about 1p will make it anywhere near the hospital. Its not worth a FTP.
