Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Post by Porty » 31 Dec 2007, 20:58

I'm feeling a bit unwell today and my joiner informed me earlier that his Cat has gall stones, which cost him £500 + to get fixed.

Questions.

Why does the cat have a capital C?

Did your joiner not consider killing (sorry, humanely disposing of) the Cat and buying a new cute kitten at little or no cost?

Is your joiner any good? Does he do loft conversions? (You do realise of course that he has just added £500 to your bill for no apparent reason.)

Is the very first post of this thread not tragically off-topic and likely to incur the wrath of those who find such things upsetting?

My sort-of NYR is to scan some pages of a book published in 1900 called Romantic Edinburgh by John Geddie which (somewhat surprisingly!) has a whole chapter on Portobello ........ but only 3 1/2 pages!! I will then email them to you, Bob, to pass on to the appropriate parties.

Hope you, Portly, (and the Cat) are better soon. And Mr TG. XXXX

Poppy Im so glad you mentioned that. Thanks for the prompt. I'm virtually certain that the sole purpose of my joiners cat divulgence was to artificially inflate my tab (by)

Anyway, lets get back on topic: I'm feeling a lot better.

Happy New Year Bob and best wishes to your family.

As yet, I have not established the joiners' loft conversion potential. It remains a mystery to me. The only thing I can be totally certain about her is that she, and her family, live in a cooncil flat, above a pub in leith.

They have lived there for around 6 Years and during their occupancy: three people have expired prematurely.

Happy New Year to everyone and to joiners in particular. I don't know who did your bathroom wangi, but I don't have a joiner. That's the essence of the problem really.

Happy New Year everyone :drunken: .:0.: :drunken:

As this thread is already off topic I'll update you on Mr TG. He is still in the Royal with tubes hanging out of him. He is having surgery later in the week (unless his drain miraculously decides to work) so I had the pleasure of watching him have his swabs done yesterday (from various places  )

Too much talk about cats, time for the dogs to get in on the action..........the same week as Mr TG took ill I had a scare with Baxter. He stole a strip of Ibuprofen out of my handbag and I think swallowed perhaps three pills. Anyway he spend a night in the vets on a drip having his kidneys flushed and after urine and blood tests was given the all clear, no kidney damage, thank goodness.

.............and for those people who say things come in threes, the goldfish all died the week before
2008 can only get better !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please.

In spite of your dissing of The Cat (our Leaders :notworthy: ), I am sending you Best Wishes, TG, and Even Better Wishes to Mr TG.

You know where we all are if you need anything - even if it's only a laugh at folk who parade along Portobello High Street with one red and one purple shoe on ( !).

Look forward to seeing this Poppy. So what happened to that other history project you were working on? Have you renewed your Scotsman digital archive membership for 2008?

Happy New Year! What a fantastic atmosphere on the beach last night. Amazing how it can be deserted at ten to midnight and by a few mins to midnight the fires are suddenly lit, the music is on and the crowds are gathering.

Best wishes for health to those who have been so ill through the festive season. xx

Never finished it ... and probably won't as I let the Scotsman digital archive membership for 2008 lapse as there is no special offer this year and anyway I really don't have the time to make use of it just now.

But I should manage the romantic scanning!

HNY Sandra and to the Cub. The Ormelie party was pretty good. Had a go on the krakatoke and there was enough food to feed an Army.
