One of my kids who lives round the corner has just had Sky broadband installed. At least, that's what they keep telling her. However, when you plug in the modem the power light comes on and the wireless light is on but the light that tells you that there is a broadband connection does not

.
I have just spent ages talking to someone talking from a script and finally they were going to pass me on to someone who was supposed to know what they were talking about. The wait was going to be 15 more minutes so I have been given a number and will need to phone back

.
Is there any other way to check if the connection has been made? I did try another modem but that made no difference.

have you simply tried using the thing to access the web?
if you can browse (say, to here) then you are online. Sounds as though you may not be though, by your description of the lights / no lights...

She is unable to do anything other than make the usual phone calls or dial-up connection. That is why I am asking if there is any other way to tell if the line has been activated for broadband.

I'd think if she cant access the net other than dial up then the broadband aint working
There's sites you can use to check the speed of connections
