Reading Sd's xbox problems made me wonder if anyone else having problems with Virgin's V+ box? Ours won't record or pause/rewind etc. live tele and when we view pay-per-view the screen alternates between dark and light contrast every few seconds.
I've reported the problem to Virgin and they tell me the problem is at their end and they should be able to fix it easily. It should only take about a week or so

In the meantime they are refunding us £10, which doesn't really placate me
I know Sandra and bc had their box installed the same day as us. How are you guys faring?

We're now on our 3rd V+ box
So far so good with this one.
They kept failing. Switching off at mains meant they wouldn't load so we couldn't watch any cable telly.
If you want to keep any recorded programmes get them onto video dvd before the engineer comes. If they reset or replace the box you loose everything you've recorded.
The last engineer turned up unexpected , he was due on the Monday but was in the area that Friday!
(I'd only phoned Virgin as we'd lost all tv, turned out to be area fault, but they didn't like the code the box was giving)
I was driving back from Newcastle and had Clanger 1 holding the phone to my ear as I shouted he was not taking that box away until I got home. I'd recoreded the whole of Hyde and another series while Clanger1 was in Europe and that was her just landed.
We've been having problems with tv freezing and internet connectivity on and off for a while

Thanks for the tip SD. It wouldn't have crossed my mind to transfer the recorded stuff!

3rd box eh? Sounds ominous
Our internet connection has been a bit sluggish lately too

We lost all the Dr Who and Boston Legal when the 1st box went
Its not too difficult to record on to video or dvd, assuming you've got it connected up to the box. It just takes a while
Been meaning to take our dvdrecorder through and get Scrubs and Family Guy on for the kids before they fill up the whole box.
We've only had the box in since Sky and Virgin fell out. Was that earlier this year.
Our bills are still lower than they were than ( fingers crossed that continues)
We thought the bad internet connection was behind the X box problems but it seems its a recognised problem.
Working through the instructions they give online before we try and return it

Internet connection very slow here too.
My Vbox is fine but only had it 3 or 4 weeks so there's time for things to go wrong, I suppose.
Have noticed that the TV guide and watch again pages take an age to load, if at all.
Ho hum

I do like that you can check the tv guide on the V+ box for up to a week in advance and either plan to record or set up a reminder
Handy
Now all I have to do is remember I've set a reminder

I dread to say it but, fingers crossed, ours has been fine since we got it. There's been a couple of times when recordings have been "unavailable due to a problem" when we went to view them, but lucky if it's 1% of recordings - so can't grumble, I probably used to screw up the video recordings about 10 times as much as that!

And now that I'm worried, I'm off to watch the last episode of Dexter before it disappears.......

Our internet connection kept dropping today screwing up my wireless connection. After lots of rebooting, carrying my Mac downstairs to plug in directly to the ethernet cable, reinstalling of my Airport Express etc. I found out from Virgin that the modem we have can't cope with the upgraded 20MB speed , so they are posting out another one.
I'm connected again now, but keeping my fingers and toes crossed
Looking forward to trying out the new modem tho'

Thats interesting
Will keep an eye on our wireless setup
We initially thought the Xbox problems were due to the internet connection
Will see how it goes with the laptops etc without xbox online

All problems now solved it seems *touch wood*. As of today, V+ service now working again, new modem installed and working well and just had a courtesy call from a Virgin agent to check all is well. I'm a pretty happy bunny
