My mum may have helped to bring you into the world........ she worked at the Eastern general for years.
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.

My mum worked there for years as well, she was a nurse tutor and had a wee office with a skeleton in it

Is this about the fire? There wasn't much in the news about it, and I didn't recognise the bit in the photo.
Does anyone know any more about it? My wee boy was born there and the staff were great. :bounce:

Yup, he was a bouncing baby boy!

The Eastern is closed now, so must have been empty at the time of the fire
There's supposed to be housing going on the site
I found some photos of the outside at
Eastern

I took some photos of the site a week or two before the fire... All empty ground apart from the one building.

Will post some when I get a chance.

Funny to think it was once such a bustling place
Had 2 kids and a minor op there.
And no parking fees.
My dad is in the RIE at present, will cost a fair bit to visit

When I had my 1st child 20 odd years ago there was a choice of hospitals with maternity . WGH, Simpsons, Elsie Inglis, EGH.
All gone alas.

I hope for his sake (and your purse!) that he gets better soon, SD.

Thanks, Poppy.
He was getting the procedure ( chemoemolisation ) today and doesn't want visitors tonight, he'll still have the sedatives in his system
I'll probably go up tommorrow.

£2.20 to park at the Royal this afternoon!
They hide the wards up there, think the signposting could be improved.
Of course I'm taking the stairs instead of the lifts, suppose its mostly staff that do that , but even so a notice to say what level/ wards would be good.

Hope your dad's managing ok.
That place seemed like a shopping mall when I first went there - you can even book a holiday on the way!

Yeah, I notice you have to pass all the shops before getting to the wards. Then there's a charge to use the phone, tv, etc etc.

Anyway Dad is out. Tired but happy to be out of the ward.
Last time , which was 3 years ago, he had a wondeful bruise on his thigh forgot to ask how that was this time.
He knows about arnica.
They go in through the femoral artery and sort of block off the liver then flood it with anti cancer drugs. He will to back for scans in a few weeks to see if the tumours have shrunk.
He's also taking Milkthistle which is supposed to have a benificial effect on the liver. His consultant is sceptical about that but cant see any harm in it.

One of the things my dad showed me when he was in hospital was a pat of butter.
It had allergy advice on the back.
"contains milk"

Just as well, really. The number of times I've told food shop and restaurant staff that I am highly allergic cow's milk ... and then they have immediately come out with: "this is OK, it's got butter" or "do you want butter"!! And seem surprised that I refuse!!   This has also happened in hospital!!

It must be true that some people these days really don't know the link between cows and dairy products!!

Seems silly that some folk dont know butter is made from milk, wonder what they make of yoghurt.
Its strange how many things have milk and whey in them

I've read various stories about the "yoof's" astounding ignorance about where their food comes from/how it arrives on their plate/in their McDonalds bucket. Tragic, really.
