To be honest I find a lot of it boring too. I really hate it when I post a sunset/rise shot - makes me feel dirty even.

Tell you what, lets try and make it all a little bit more interesting for you... Not just photos, but rather photos of local(ish) places that you might not know about that you might find interesting. You never know, it might cause you to visit the place. That's certainly how I ended up going to Cove Harbour today - one of those boring photos posted by a fellow member.

So, how about a thread of photos of places others might want to visit? Come on, join in.

Pentlands, Dunbar, Cove Harbour

Post by wangi » 04 Aug 2007, 23:17

I had a busy day today, managed to escape TP! After an early rise I was off to the Pentland's for a cycle. There's a route at Edinburgh Bicycle's website for a loop round four of the reservoirs - Glencourse, Loganlea, Threipmuir and Harlaw. The route's okay as described in the guide, but it's a blinder if you do it in reverse - a great descent down a farm road (easy 40mph) and another great one down towards Glencourse over rutted stones. It's not hardcore mountain bike stuff (unlike Glentress), it's just fun. The pub at Flotterstone's great for some food or a few pints once you're finished (but it was too early today!). Two shots looking toward Loganlea Reservoir (click to enlarge):

In the afternoon it was out to Dunbar. They've made progress on whatever work they're doing to the harbour so you can now make it out to the island and old battery to the north of Victoria Harbour. Would recommend Creel Restaurant for a bite to eat - very good! Two shots from the harbour:

Finally after that it was out to Cove, on the recommendation of Poppy. Definitely worth a visit, it's not far after Torness, near Cockburnspath. The tunnel it well different, for more info see: http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/c ... index.html. A few photos (more here):
