keyrings and barbers

Post by Dadaist » 17 Jul 2007, 07:44

I just changed keyrings. I've had maybe 4 throughout my adult life.

1. small metal Eiffell Tower that I got when inter-railing. one of the legs at the bottom broke

2. Micro Machines "Imperial Probe Droid" which eventually the ring came off the top

3. Chopley Lodge banner that I got at a Durham Miner's gala

4. my new one from Kabab Mahal on Nicholson Sq

Also, yesterday I was telling my barber that he was only the 4th of my adult life and that all the rest were either shut down or dead.

1. Guy just off Albert Street. Always Radio 2 playing in the shop. Rumours he had a sink full of cash through the back. He got done for reset in the 60s - he used to get guys to go into Jenners and nick jackets which he would then sell off. All over with a No. 2.

2. Bob's down the far end of Lauriston Place

3. The one on Porty high street - still there, but the guy with the long shaggy hair who drank at the Figgate is dead now.

4. Corner of Elm Row. Back and sides, bit off the top and the fringe, number 3.

How many keyrings and/or hairdressers have you had?

I've had many keyrings too numerous to remember, probably one for every new address or car and then some

I currently have "tweety pie" who has lost his body and legs...thtill like him though :)

As for hairdressers...total phobia of mine, in fact I would rather go to the dentist any day of the week than get my hair done.
This all stems from the fact that my sister became a hairdresser before I left school and I became one of her poor unsuspecting guinea pigs.

I've had every colour except blonde, every style, including long sha.ggy perms, demiwaves, fringe too short, fringe too long, short and spikey, long and straight, short and curly, and every copy cat style you can think of that we spotted in the hairdressing magazines at the time...except mine never quite worked out right :rr:

She still cuts my hair but thankfully now she generally does as she 's told...usually... "same again thanks" 8)

I currently have a Spongebob keyring. My longest serving keyring was one I bought in Glasgow at the Garden Festival in 1988. It lasted me for at least 10 years.
I had a fab day out at that Festival and the keyring was a nice reminder of it. I was quite gutted when it eventually fell apart on me.

I've had quite a few hairdressers in my time and, like Foxy, have had all sorts of hair styles and colours over the years. I love getting my hair done. I had my hair dyed brown yesterday from it's usual bleached blonde. Fancied a change, I suppose.

My current hairdresser is a gorgeous looking, hip and trendy young thing and I love hearing the tales of her nights out on the lash. She's a hoot. She has to do all the gossiping for both of us as I'm far too old to have a social life.

I have had several keyrings over the last few years and most of them have had a terrier dog on them and one or two with bees but I tend to have favourites and stick with them 'till they fall apart.

As for hairdressers, I'm like you Foxy, I have a bit of a phobia there.
I have only had one hairdresser in the last twenty plus years apart from daughter who did a hairdressing course and occasionally gives it a wee trim when I can pin her down.
I've never dyed my hair but did go through the henna fad of a few (quite a few) years ago.

My current keyring is a rather posh looking Troika cat on a nifty metal wire thingy which I got from Rathbone for my birthday.

Wouldn't know where to start with hair. Anyone who knows me also knows that my hair changes colour at an alarming rate. In fact, today it went Medium Champagne Blonde without Mr E even noticing  . I was lucky that my cousin used to lecture on hairdressing at Telford College so when I was a teenager I was frequently used as a model for her students. You name it - I've had it  . My favourite was perms though. Can't wait for them to come back into fashion.

Ok then, my keyring is a little woven tattoo from Vancouver island, and a keyfob torch. Those wee torches are fab. I've no idea where all the proper big torches scuttled off to, but there's one of the tiny wee fellas attached to every bag, rucksack and random hook.

I've counted carefully and I think I've been to a hairdresser's almost ten times in my life so far (I haven't given up yet) My hair was turquoise when I moved here aeons ago, now it is a sort of red :D
