Post by Black Mamba » 14 Jul 2007, 19:35

Just bought a nice new phone.

My new phone

It's abrand new unlocked 02 pay & go. I'm using it with my vodafone card, but can't get the photo messageing to work. Any ideas (I tried the web site maker and vodafone) I might just go into the nearest Vodafone shop and see if they can help

Your phone will be configured to 02 settings, hence why you cant send/receive MMS.

If you phone Vodafone, they should send you service settings in the form of a service text, it prompts you to save the new settings. It should then work.

Have you gone thru the MMS and WAP settings to make sure its all set to use the Vodafone settings? If so phone again and they'll tallk you through or do a google search and see if there is online instructions.

I'll try that Robin, only there's two settings for Vodafone I'm not sure which one it would be and the handbook is written for 02 (obviously).

It can be annoying, slightest setting out will stop it from sending out. I had to phone once and it took the best part of 30 minutes but they got it in the end, that was o2 at the time though.

You could always buy an o2 simcard

That I could but I don't want to change my phone number. Also I don't know what the reception would be like in Kinross, though I think 02 would be okay.
The other problem would be that it can take up to a month to tranfer your number to another company. I've also just put a £10 top up into my p :( hone

Ah, that can be a hassle moving your number to another network and they charge you for it too. :?

They do?
If Vodafone can't sort it out for me in a jiffy tomorrow I think I'll just get an 02 sim card and reset the phone.
The worst that can happen is I have to memorise a new phone number.
Thanks for your help on this one. Technology eh!!!

Gone over to the other side...
O2 are actuall much better than Vodafone. Everytime you top up you get so many free texts, and the call rates are much cheaper to.
love the new phone. I'm getting to know my way around it already, it's very user friendly. :D

that's affirmative Robin. Not only that but because I registered when I tope each month I get 300 texts & 1mb of data free!!. and you get an allowance each month you top up!!. In my book that's a great deal. I got nothing from Vodafone except what I paid for.
