Calling all cat lovers

My neighbour's young cat is stuck up on the chimney. It has been there now for over 48 hours and shows no sign of coming down. The SSPCA say it will come down when it is hungry but I think it has lost its nerve. Any suggestions?

Poor wee thing. Think it would have come down by now

How high up is it?
We've got an extra long ladder if some one wants to try and climb up near it. Not sure it the ladders would reach that high though.
Fire Brigade? Do they charge for cat rescue?
Chimney sweep?

Is nothing safe from the prying eyes of Bob and his camera? Seriously Bob, if you read this soon and the cat is still hiding from you I have long ladders which you can use to rescue it. I will, of course be on hand to take photos of this just in case it ends in hilarity,

You could try offering the cat some tuna the smell might bring it down.

Now I'm worrying about the poor wee cat

We had a cat that would get himself stuck and Mr Soupy telling me that you never see cat skeletons up a tree didn't reassure me much!

Do any of the neighbours have an attic window or skylight they could leave open?

We had a cat that used to love going up a tree we had in the garden.It would not come down until my son came home from school to climb the tree and then the cat would jump down.

I was sure it was a game in the end, and just left him the cat that is all night up the tree, needless to say he was at the back door in the morning looking for something to eat.

It isn't, but we now have 2 SSPCA vans in attendance and a bloke with roof ladders en route. Hope to have happy news soon. His name is Benson btw. The cat that is, not the bloke. Fingers crossed.

The ladders went up, Benson freaked and decided to jump. The good news is that he seems ok although a bit traumatised. I'll post a picture later if I get the opportunity.

It has been quite an event. Most of the neighbours were aware of the situation and it's a great relief for everyone.

According to the latest report he has calmed down and is now eating and drinking. I don't think he will try that trick again for a while.

Hope Benson stays in for the next few days or he could end up back up there.
Cats can be very stupid but that is why they are so adorable.
