Leaks!

I can't find the old thread for flooding neighbours, but my neighbour who likes to leak has done it again and I am cultivating puddles. Aarrggh. I think it's that little roof garden above me, with The Drain That Must Be Kept Clear.. I'm guessing it hasn't : (

I am watching the damp spread across the ceiling and thinking that though she's the only one of my neighbours who I don't know (and don't have a phone number for unfortunately), I might be about to meet her tonight if she's sitting up there and the floor/ceiling gives way completely

Would the councils building control be helpful in getting your neighbour to stop flooding you?

Its an idea but I found building control a waste of time when we had a leak from the flat above. Ours wasn't quite so bad as it wasn't internal but it was ruining the fabric of the building.

Rapunzell, I have some personal knowledge of this situation and have spoken to your neighbour. It sounds like you need to speak to your landlord, who has a responsibility to sort this out. My understanding is that a statutory notice may be required to resolve this issue. Your neighbour also assures me that your landlord has her telephone number. Thanks guys. I felt a bit stressed last night.. But today I met my neighbour! She's really nice and has actually been keeping the roof drain clear, so I should apologise for that doubt. We have also identified the section of the drainage that may be blocked and leaking, and it is going to need a good poke around for further info. These old buildings keep us on our toes!

Glad you're getting on with the neighbour. I did wonder if it could be a blocked communal drain which is why I suggested Building Control.
Fingers crossed anyway.
