Your post awakened vague memories of an advert for direct flights between Edinburgh and Moscow. I thought that your idea might not be that daft. On second thoughts, knowing Epykat's predilection for Vodka maybe not

There used to be direct flights to Moscow, operated by Transaero. Was daily (but empty) a few years back and I think weekly last year.
