Nelson Hatstand's Farewell tae the Whisky

Post by ali » 31 Dec 2006, 14:00

Morning all

The Lion of Joppa Soundsystem's new tune is up here - http://www.soundlift.com/band/music.php?id=106462

A few weeks ago Nelson and I took our usual stroll along the prom, popping in to the Dalriada for a small libation as usual, admiring the fine calf muscles on the waitress, in a very discrete manner, I can assure you and later proceeding eastward to The Ormelie, Joppa's famous hostelry. After a couple of whiskies Nelson - and it gives me no pleasure at all to tell you this - lost the place and well, I'll tell you no more except to say that we were lucky to get out of there alive.
As Para Handy would say if he was here "the man's a right deffil wi the drink in him"
Ever since then he has been promising me that he will give up the whisky.

In an effort to distract him from the evil malt concoction I promised him that he could contribute to the next Lion of Joppa Soundsystem tune and since then he's been practising like mad on his new steel guitar.

So here it is - a lament entitled "Nelson Hatstand's Farewell tae the Whisky". I think he's done very well too. We both hope you enjoy it.

PS - I can't get the HiFi version to stream properly on my PC and the Lo-Fi version seems to play at half speed. The download works fine tho - only about a minute on if you're on broadband.

I kept expecting Jennifer Rush to start singing.

Loved the steel guitar. Needs more cowbell and less Jewish harp.

Yes. The little fella did very well didn't he?

You're right of course - there's not a tune in this world that wouldn't be improved by more cowbell.

As for the "Jewish Harp" well its all a bit controversial really -

I prefer to call it a "trump".

Sorry Izzie - I just wanted to say 'OH YES HE HAS' about 72 times, that's all.

But I am at the moment the subject of 'Get off the computer and get the tidying done' stares so am going to stop.
