Sister in law and I take year about at doing the New Year dinner and it's her turn this year so don't know, but probably turkey and ham. As we don't see each other over Christmas we make it like a Christmas dinner and have crackers and party hats etc. Whatever, it will be a big nosh up.

We usually have steak pie on New Years Day, but have a haggis from Findlays that we got a couple of weeks ago, so it's going to be an early Burns supper for us this New Year.

Had not really thought yet. Apparently it's mince and medallions - I hope I defrost the medallions!!

Perhaps braised in Guinness & Port with Pickled Walnuts - with tons of mashed tatties. Or Red Wine & Redcurrant Sauce.

We usually just have salad and buffet type nibbles for whenever anyone drifts home rather than a sit down dinner. Fridge and freezer full at present but as half the family have the lurgi dont know when it'll get eaten.
Not sure if my mum in law will make it up the stairs this year ( next year?). Usually takes it in stages, Clangers with folding chair every few steps, as she is crippled by arthitis but as she had radiotherapy that finished beginning Dec so she's still weak.
Perhaps a picnic on the Prom but then the toilet seems to be out of use again so another problem.
Can picture us now, in the thermals, swathed in warm coats, gloved hands clutching sarnies.....

The bf and I are having silverside. My mother used to have it every year for the family and guests - all 19 of us.

OK, Foxy, you can come round now with your pinny on.... :P

Just had the steaks (turned out to be a small roast that one could slice into steaks) with red onion, raisin, grape and red wine confit. It was delicious. Yum Yum Yum.

Thank you, Sheik Mohamed al Maktoum!

Said haggis features on the menu for the soon-to-be-opened Reds restaurant, Soupy. Yum.

It is very nice. I tried some one day when they were testing it out on customers. Think he was making it for a Wedding party.
