Local Health Recommendations

Hello to all,

Mr K and myself have now officially moved in to Bath Street and are enjoying the Porty life (though not the weather and dark afternoons - a walk on the beach, no chance!)

I'm afraid other commitments are going to keep us away from both the Christmas night out and the hogmany celebrations. Maybe next year - I hope they all go well.

Meantime, we are looking for a local doctor and dentist to join -nhs if possible

Any recommendations? I prefer a female doc, otherwise, just someone who treats you like a person would be good!

There is a good range of GPs at Reids and Partners on the Hight St, ranging from ones to avoid to ones who talk to ones who listen. Will look at notes to self for details and post them.

Bath Street is great.

I remember a lot of my boyhood was spent there at my Auntie's. You're gonna love it. Except going for a swim in the sea in Winter. I did that when I was 12 cos my Uncle said it was healthy! I got pneumonia and he got a belt round the head from my mum.

Great place! Enjoy!

If you can't get a more local doc, I can recommend my own doctor at Durham Road. Very freindly staff and they're usually on the ball.

Dr Connan is brilliant, I'd recommend her. She's at the medical centre on High Street. Even if she isn't allocated as your "doctor", you can still ask to see her.

Thanks guys. We are enjoying Bath Street. We may even build up to a swim in the summer, definately not before!!

We have already discovered the chinese and thai restaurants and chippy on our doorstep and were very impressed.

It's a shame The Place is the only cool bar in Porty (unless I've missed something) Maybe someone will spruce up the one on the corner that's for let.

Dalriada and Ormelie are good but I think they are classed as being in Joppa. Still only a short walk away.

Welcome! I'm not quite Bath St but very close so we're still sort of neighbours.

Dr Reid's surgery is mostly good and once registered you can in fact see any doctor. In fact, my named doctor is the one I would avoid at all costs...! There's a good mix of male and female doctors. The nurses are good, especially Mary who is fab.

The dentists on Brighton Place are pretty good and everywhere I go I keep hearing about the dreamy young Irishman there!
