I'm guessing the crew would have an idea, unless its one of those russian boats.

I'd forgotten seeing that at 7.45 this morning - looks like a dredger and the triangle bit in the middle was all lit up then.

dredgers

GRANTY is here, admiring the dredger from the window. It's very close to shore. I thought it had run aground? I'm too lazy to don my rubber gear(!), paddle out and invite myself on board.

They are pirates, the dredging bit is probably their cover.

Apparently they aim their canons at people on the prom. They are usually found in Australia, but for some reason they are here.

I can hear the singing from here...

And here is that song in full ...

The Old Sea Dog.

There once was an old sea dog
Who loved to drink plenty of grog
At the Mad Maggot’s bar
He told tales of afar
And of ships that got lost in a fog

At the Tavern’s bar
He’d have more by far
Than anyone else could stomach
He spent gold in great sum
As he walloped the rum
While resting upon his great hummock

With his eye on a wench
He’d shout from the bench
Telling yarns that were awfully scary
Of terrible gales
And great big white whales
And creatures “wot looked awful ‘airyâ€

The boats are gone and no sign of Johnny Depp on the beach.
I've looked!
Mind you I didn't check under the Clangers beds, they may be hiding him there.
