Put my shorts in the washing machine. Nothing remarkable about that you may think but I forgot to make my mobile out the pocket................so in the last 15 months or so I have dropped it down the loo twice and now this...what a tube I am.

New phone coming tomorrow between 8 and 5:30 unfortunately they had the same model in stock.

I did this as well last year. The phone was sodden when it came out and did not work at all. Out of interest I put it on Ebay, where I clearly stated it had been through the washing machine and it did not work at all. Some guy in Japan bought it for Â£50 and left me positive feedback.

What kind of phone was it you flogged, Ed?

It got tumble dried so it was nice and warm when it came out. it looked perfectly normal but the persil was ruined. Omo I god I thought to myself and there was no sign of any ariel. It feel lost without it I can't surf or anything.

Its a Motorola V3 and is known to be water irresistant,Its a complete goner. I dropped my Nokia down the loo about 15 months ago and it survived until i did the same again a while later. Happens 600,000 times a year in the UK apparently.

This why my mobile is in a pocket in my jacket and it never leaves it ... ever!!! It's for emergency use ... not for people to phone me when I'm out! I like my anonimity.

Do as I do ... and never give out your mobile number either ... and it will always be safe. No fun ... but safe!

I have been getting texts for the last two weeks from someone called Craig from Croydon, even though I ignore him and say I don't know him, never have, he still text's me...... Should I be asking Gilo what to do to get rid of him?

I'm running an SPV M3100 on Orange (HTC Hermes) and I love it - Windows Mobile is the business compared to Symbian or other operating systems - but am a bit paranoid about the touch screen getting scratched. Dropped it while pshied on Saturday night but thankfully still in once piece

Almost impossible to operate when drunk though.

Once i get my V3 delivered today (which is crap) I have until Feb 1th to go on my contract. Even although I am an O2 select customer and supposedly get discounts and other priveleges I don't intend to renew. Buying a SIM card and your own phone seems to be better value for money and the SIM has a 1 month as opposed to a 12 or 18 month contract.

What's you views?

I think the word is "convergence" in that people used to carry several devices but now only have to have one - when I looked at the model IV recommended I thought, for the first time, about ditching my mp3 player.

The cameras on these phones are brilliant now too - plus the web surfing will be good cos it's 3G, but not on the "3" Network which I wouldn't touch with a bargepole - anyone on "3" who has had a good experience is welcome to correct me.

The phone IV pointed to is also a touch-screen, but has a keypad which doesn't cover half the screen.

So what you're getting is a computer with (I'm assuming) handwriting recognition, a PDA which will run whatever software you care to put on it, a fully functional mobile, an internet platform which is fast, a decent quality camera and a music player which can hold a decent amount of songs and for some people their whole collection!

The memory could be used for storing a whole bunch of stuff, and the fast net connection isn't just one-way - you'd be able to get pictures and music - even small movies - off as well as on.

So sitting in the palm of your hand in one device is a collection of technology which, 10 years ago, either wasn't invented or would need a big bag to carry!

In short, a nice bit of kit. Me wantee.
